FC Barcelona female striker, Asisat Oshoala took to her Instagram account recently to announce that she has extended her contract with the Spanish club.

The 27-year-old Super Falcons of Nigeria captain who joined FC Barcelona first on loan in 2019 before she signed a permanent deal with the Spanish club extended her contract to June 30, 2024.

Before she signed the contract renewal on Thursday, March 10, 2022, Asisat Oshoala had less than four months in her previous contract.

In her Instagram post, the Nigeria international was seen sitting next to the president of Barcelona Joan Laporta while she signed the dotted lines in the contract.

In the second slide, Asisat Oshoala could be seen posing very cozily with Laporta who sat on his chair with a big smile.

While in the third slide, Oshoala posed in between Laporta and the club’s director Xavier Puig.

In the caption, the 27-year-old Nigerian striker wrote: “Happy to announce my renewal with @fcbfemeni…. I am very happy here and thanks to the club for the trust placed in me. Now it’s time to continue working.”

A statement on the club’s website read: “Asisat Oshoala has renewed his contract with FC Barcelona until 30 June 2024. The striker, who had just finished her relationship with the club at the end of the season, has sealed her continuity for another two years with president Joan Laporta and manager Xavier Puig, in the Camp Nou presidential office.”

What is Asisat Oshoala’s stats at FC Barcelona and achievements so far?

Asisat Oshoala joined FC Barcelona on loan from Chinese club Dalian Quanjian in 2019. A few months after, the Spanish club decided to offer her a permanent deal.

Since then, the Nigerian international has scored 80 goals in 101 matches which makes her the 6th all-time highest goalscorer at FC Barcelona female team.

So far this season, even though she was sidelined a couple of times due to injuries, she has been able to score 19 goals in 16 games which makes her the current highest goal scorer in the Spanish league, Primera Iberdrola.

Between 2019 and 2021, Asisat Oshoala has been able to help FC Barcelona win two league titles, two Copa de la Reina diadems, one Supercopa Femenina, and Uefa Women’s Champions League trophy.

Due to how consistent she has been, Oshoala who has been playing for the Nigeria national team since 2013, earned herself a two-year contract extension at Barca.

“I think I’m really happy and excited to continue the journey with the best team in the world, obviously”, the four-time African female footballer of the year told Barcelona TV. “Nothing to feel here but it’s just about a girl who has decided to stay at home.

“The goal of every player is to get to the next level. Every year, you want to smash some goals and after four years, you can say that it’s been a progression.

“Winning trophies, being better on the pitch, scoring more goals every day, it has been really comfortable for me…

“When you say a club is the best, it is not basically about the trophies, you look outside of football and see how the team treats their players.

“I think the management has done a great job in helping the players improve on and off the pitch.

“Four years ago, I was not like this and my mentality was different from what I have now. After three and a half years, I think I have learned a lot.

“To be honest with you, I am a striker who loves to score goals – that’s one of the things I love to do.

“The most important thing is for me to score more goals and keep improving as more as I can and get opportunities to make myself happy because this is what makes me happy.”

How much does Asisat Oshoala earn as a female footballer

Before she renew her contract with FC Barcelona on March 10, 2022, Asisat Oshoala was said to be earning nothing less than 10,000 euros per week.

But the financial details of her new contract with Barca have not been revealed as of the time of publishing this report.

Oshoala who is currently not married and not in a publicized relationship but has a daughter who is between 8 to 10 years old, reportedly has a net worth of 1 to 5 million dollars.
