Antoine Griezmann could depart Atletico Madrid for a slashed fee when the summer transfer window opens due to an exit clause in his contract.

Griezmann enjoyed another stellar season under the tutelage of Los Colchoneros boss Diego Simeone, scoring 24 goals and providing 8 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

His remarkable display has earned him a spot in Didier Deschamps’ France squad ahead of the upcoming 2024 European Championship.

Shockingly, he might not be returning to Atletico Madrid after the tournament due to the exit clause inserted in his contract.

Antoine Griezmann, 33, returned permanently to Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2023, following a disastrous spell at Barcelona.

Antoine Griezmann Exit Clause Sees Him Available For A Stunning Fee

Based on reports from L’Equipe, Griezmann’s deal signed last summer included a release clause of £12.8 million.

The Frenchman remains one of Europe’s lethal attackers and the price he has been rumored to be available for has made European and MLS clubs declare their interest in his services.

Antoine Griezmann could be fancying a big-money move to either the Premier League, MLS, or Saudi Arabia, despite never representing clubs outside Spain.

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag is keen on signing another striker in the summer to act as a backup alternative to Rasmus Hojlund, and Griezmann is considered to be a strong option.

Antoine Griezmann has also in the past indicated his interest in playing in America’s Major League Soccer.

Several former La Liga stars are plying their trade in the country, including former teammates at Barcelona; Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Griezmann’s Assertions On Playing Outside Europe

Speaking regarding playing outside Europe, Griezmann opened up on the idea of playing in the MLS but claimed Atletico Madrid will be the last club he plays for in Europe.

He said: “Beyond Europe, what I would like later is the MLS. I have always recognized that.  But Atletico will be almost one hundred percent my last club in Europe.

“It’s where I want to be, where I see myself happiest and here I am at home.”

Antoine Griezmann moved back to Atletico Madrid in July 2023, for a fee of €22 million and his current contract with the club runs until June 30, 2026.
