Antoine Griezmann has featured in all 81 matches that the France national team has played so far with no break in between.

That feat has seen the Frenchman record the longest run of games in a row for France in international football.

The only time France fielded players without Antoine Griezmann who currently play for Atletico Madrid was in May 2016 in Nantes, in a match against Cameroon.

Griezmann was benched in that match after he played in the Champions League Final two days before the game.

While Antoine Griezmann was absent, Bacary Sagna, Patric Evra, a Pogba-Diarra-Matuidi combination, Dimitri Payet, and Kingsley Coman started alongside Olivier Giroud.

Following that game, Antoine Griezmann has never been injured, benched, or kept aside by Didier Deschamps or any other France head coach.

It doesn’t matter the match, be it competitive or friendly, the Atletico Madrid man will always be found in the starting line-up.

The only player to have more consistent appearances than Griezmann is Manuel Amoros, who recorded 82 appearances successively.

This record will in no time be surpassed by Griezmann and he could be achieved before the forthcoming Euro 2024.

Antoine Griezmann will mark his 124th appearances and is also on the verge of meeting Hugo Lloris’ record of 145 appearances.

Antoine Griezmann also holds the record for the best passer (28 to 36 passes, depending on the source) while ranking third in scoring (44 points).

Speaking on the Frenchman’s feat, France’s head coach Didier Deschamps said: “Antoine, he has something additional as well, he has always been a very important player, I have always kept my confidence in him during much more difficult periods for him.”

“Antoine, with what he does on the pitch, he is a key pillar in the sense of being the motor. He was and he will remain so in the future.”
