Al Nassr are set for a shock move for former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea after the latter saw out his Man United contract.

According to the Sun, Al Nassr are plotting a shock move to sign David De Gea as the Saudi club searches for an experienced hand in goal ahead of next season’s campaign.

The report adds the Saudi club are set to table a £250,000 weekly offer for De Gea with the hope of sealing a deal as soon as possible.

David De Gea to Al Nassr move could see the Manchester United legend reunite with his former teammate and footie icon Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr as a free agent after he reached a mutual agreement with Manchester United to terminate his contract following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.

He signed a two-year contract with the club till 2025 and could spend his last season at the club playing alongside David De Gea as the latter prepares to leave the club as a free agent.

Manchester United and David De Gea were at loggerheads following differences over United’s new wage offer for the Spaniard. David De Gea became the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world after he signed a new four-year contract in 2019 with a weekly paycheck of £375,000.

Man United cut down De Gea’s wage from £375,000 weekly to £200,000 weekly in a new proposal. De Gea initially refused to sign the deal. After a dragging round of talks and negotiations, the 32-year-old finally signed the deal but was met with another shock move by Manchester United.

Manchester United refused to sign off the deal to begin a new chapter with the Spaniard but retrieved the old proposal and returned with a more reduced offer for De Gea.

Reacting to the contract renewal impasse, David De Gea dropped a cryptic social media post to delineate his struggle to come to terms with Manchester United on the contract renewal process.

De Gea is now a free agent having run out of his contract at Manchester United. Manchester United are still eager to renew his deal with the club with the door still open for negotiations but they now have to battle out with interest from Al Nassr from Saudi Arabia.

It is understood Al Nassr were monitoring proceedings between De Gea and Manchester United on the contract renewal process. With the legendary goalkeeper now a free agent, the Saudi club are ready to sign the player with a £250,000 per week offer on the table.

The ball is now in De Gea’s court as the 32-year-old can now decide whether to agree a new contract renewal and stay at Manchester United or move to Saudi Arabia.

Manchester United are reportedly offering David De Gea a reduced weekly wage less than £200,000. It is believed, De Gea who seemed worn out already by the ill-fated new proposal from Manchester United may likely prefer a move to Saudi Arabia than stay at Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are already in talks with Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana as a replacement for De Gea should the club fail to agree a new deal with the Spaniard.
