Manchester City gave Liverpool a very fierce chase last season but Liverpool left them behind to clinch the Premier League title for the first time in 30 years with 18 points difference. This season, Pep Guardiola and his men would want to do more not to be the chasers but the chased.
Since the Spanish tactician took over as the manager of Manchester City, he has made the club a consistent contender for the Premier League title. For the past five years, City has left the category of clubs that just want to qualify for the UEFA Champions League to a team that always wants to win the league title.
The 2020-2021 season would not be too different for Pep Guardiola and his men even though it seems they would not be the only one that would want to overthrow the reign of Liverpool as Premier League champions.
Like every other season, the Manchester City manager has done a couple of recruitments to ensure that he is able to compete with their Premier League opponents this season. Unfortunately for them, as they are recruiting, so are their rival clubs.
Meanwhile, on September 21 was when Manchester City opened their 2020-2021 Premier League season with a visit to Wolves. Pep got a perfect start to the season with a 3-1 victory. However, when Leicester City visited Etihad for their second match in the league, it wasn’t the same story. Pep and his men fell 2-5.
