As a proactive organization, the Sierra Leone police received intelligence indicating that furious youngsters planned to attack his home, prompting them to travel to the house even before the match was over.

“It was our decision to go to the house even before the match was over,” says the police chief.” We are aware of what occurred in the case of Umaru Bangura a few years ago, and we decided to be proactive.”

Apparently, this was in reference to the team’s captain, whose home was bombarded with stones after he missed another penalty in important circumstances, this one in stoppage time during a 2022 World Cup qualifying match against Liberia.
