  • Ghana wins – 21
  • Nigeria wins – 10

In what would be their sixth appearance at football’s grandest stage, the three-time African champions would also be aiming to equal an African record of four successive World Cup berths.

The Super Eagles qualified for the third round play-offs by finishing first in a second round group that included Cape Verde, Liberia, and the Central African Republic.

They have been to every FIFA World Cup but one since their debut in the 1994 tournament in the United States.

Ghana, on the other hand, advanced to the third round play-offs after finishing first in Group G, ahead of South Africa, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe.

The Black Stars will be hoping to make their fourth participation at football’s biggest tournament in Qatar after missing out on the 2014 World Cup in Russia.

This is despite the fact that their performance at the African Football Confederation (AFCON) in Cameroon was a disaster.

There were also some doubts regarding their triumph over South Africa in the World Cup qualifiers’ second round.

Following Gernot Rohr’s sacking, the Super Eagles appear to be an entirely different team at the AFCON.

The Super Eagles have romped through the group stage with a perfect record under former Nigeria international Augustine Eguavoen, and are looking like serious AFCON contenders.

Based on current form Nigeria should be able to defeat Ghana and qualify and also increase our winning tally against them, but for we underestimate them,I’m afraid it will be at our own peril, football is a funny game and we have learnt that rivalry matches is not based on form at all,Ghana will also be motivated to prove a point against Nigeria and also play to make their country proud and the records also favour them.I pray Nigeria emerges winner and qualify.
