Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina has joined his boyhood club Atletico Nacional in Colombia as free agent.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ospina, 35, has returned to the Categoría Primera A side as a free agent after a two-year stint with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.

David Ospina, 31, began his career in 2005 with Atletico Nacional after graduating from the club’s Academy. He made 97 appearances for the club in a three-year stint from 2005 to 2008. After an impressive career start with the Medellin-based side, he joined Nice in French Ligue 1. At Nice, Ospina made 189 league appearances for the club before moving to the Premier League where he pitched tent with London outfit Arsenal.

He struggled for game time with the Gunners, and could only manage 29 Premier League appearances in his five-year spell with the club. Towards the end of his Arsenal career, he was loaned to Napoli. An impressive loan shift with the Azurri saw the Colombian secure a permanent contract with the Neapolitans. He would keep the stick for the Serie A giants in 64 Serie A games before joining Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.

At Al-Nassr, the 35-year-old made 25 league appearances and has now returned to his boyhood club as he closes in calling time on his career. Atletico Nacional unveiled David Ospina with a thrilling video.

Details of his contract with the club have yet to be closed but close sources reveal the former Premier League shotstopper has penned down a one-year contract with the club.
