Manchester United’s forward Mason Greenwood has resumed training with the club’s first team after laughing gas and women problems which forced him out of England’s squad.
Recall that the 18-year-old England international who had his breakout season in the 2019-2020 season has been everywhere in the news for the wrong reasons for the past few weeks.
He began to trend on both social and mainstream media when he was given his first national team call-up. When the world thought it was time for him to take his game to the next level, it was something else he decided to show the world.
The display of the other side of the Manchester United youngster started while in Iceland with the Three Lions of England. After he played his debut match against Iceland on September 5, the next thing he and Manchester City’s Phil Foden decided to do was to bring in two Icelandic girls – a 20-year-old Miss Universe contender in Iceland Nadia Gunnarsdottir, and her 19-year-old cousin Lara Clausen, to the hotel where England national team lodged in.
Besides this being against the team’s COVID-19 protocol, it was also against the ethics of the team, hence, Greenwood and Foden were sent home ahead of England match against Denmark.
Though Greenwood and Foden were not slammed with further punishment for bringing in two Icelandic girls while on national duties, they have continued to be trolled on social media by a couple of football fans.
Before that could die down, pictures surfaced on the internet showing when Mason Greenwood was inhaling laughing gas. Though the substance is not officially banned in football, the drug is said to be risky when it is being handled by non-medical personnel like Greenwood.
In the midst of all these problems, Manchester United forced him to train alone until the result of the coronavirus test he underwent came out negative.
Mason Greenwood returned to training upbeat.
Despite the controversies trolling him all about, Mason Greenwood was seen driving himself to United’s training center with a smile on his face and looking excited, which means that he has gotten over the whole women and laughing gas scandals.
Recall that he came out with separate statements to apologize for breaching England national team’s protocol and inhaling an unhealthy drug that can cause brain damage and other life-threatening illnesses.
Since he was seen training with Manchester United’s first team, there is a high possibility that the football manager of the club, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might be tempted to use him in their season opener against Crystal Palace on September 19.
