Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi hopes European football qualification convince Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo to stay at the club for a long time.
Roberto De Zerbi, who had come under huge praise for putting Brighton into their first European football qualification, thinks those two players could play their final game for Brighton this week.
He said, “”It can be the last game, but I don’t know.”
De Zerbi continued with the claim that the players can have the possibility to change clubs because they deserve to play at another level but he believes Brighton is a big club too and can offer them the possibility to play in Europe having qualified for European competition.
He added: “But now we can offer them the possibility to play in Europe because our level is higher now. We can offer them one more possibility.”
Since Mac Allister won the 2022 World Cup, different Premier League clubs have been making efforts to sign the Argentine, and it was reported that Liverpool are currently leading the race.
Caicedo submitted a transfer request in January after Brighton rejected Arsenal’s second bid to lure him away from the club.
Arsenal are still interested in the transfer as they hope to replace outgoing Granit Xhaka and rebuild their midfield.
Another player who has been part of the delightful Brighton team and is ready to join his parent club, Chelsea, is Levi Colwill. The player has been exceptional for the team, and he is going to be a big miss.
The new Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, will have a place for the English defender next season. The player is likely to be a good replacement for veteran Brazilian defender Thiago Silva.
Brighton were guaranteed European football for next season after defeating relegated Southampton on May 21, 2023.
The highest they can qualify for is the Europa League if they maintain their winning stance.
How Brighton is preparing for Moises Caicedo and Mac Allister’s departure
Brighton have signed Liverpool legend James Milner, and the English midfielder is set to join the club for the preseason.
He is likely to play in the defensive midfield position due to his strength and longevity on the ball.
Borussia Dortmund’s Mahmoud Dahoud is also set to join the team for next season.
The club has also signed Joao Pedro for an undisclosed record fee. These players are likely to mount a title challenge next season.
It is going to be an improvement on Caicedo and Mac Allister. However, these are the two players who made Brighton’s midfield very formidable.
The two players wouldn’t come cheap for any club interested in them. Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and other big teams in Europe would probably ‘break the bank’ to sign the two players.
