England national team and Wales national team will face each other in a friendly match at Wembley Stadium, London, on October 8, 2020.

This will be the first time the two nations will meet themselves in a match since 2016 when England defeated Wales 2-1 in Euro 2016. It will also be the first match for both sides since November 2019.

Just like the Premier League matches, the friendly match will take place behind closed doors in order to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus. The friendly match will be dedicated to football legends that have passed away in the last 12 months. Some of such players are 1966 World Cup winners Jack Charlton, Martin Peters, Norman Hunter and Peter Bonetti.

The match will hold a month after the commencement of the 2020-2021 European nations league campaign. After the friendly match, the two nations will continue with their European nations league campaign on 11 and 14 October. Then, England will face Belgium and Denmark respectively, while Wales will face the Republic of Ireland and Bulgaria on the said dates.

2020-2021 La Liga Season may still be played behind closed doors

England and Wales to play a friendly match on October 8 while the 2020-2021 La Liga Season may still be played behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, the Spanish La Liga will remain without fans when the 2020-2021 season starts in September 2020. This is according to the announcement of Spain’s health minister Santiago Illa.

The league like other major leagues in the world was halted in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. The clubs returned to the pitch on 11 June and continued with the remaining games amid the pandemic and behind closed doors.

The new season is expected to start on the 12th of September 2020. If the health’s minister’s statement is anything to go by, the new season might go on behind closed doors.

“To be honest, I don’t see it, given the reality we are in, ” the health minister told radio station Cadena Ser. “We have seen some clusters of infections and, although we have fortunately been able to control them, I still don’t see [fans returning].

“We’re going to take our time and provide information so the sports department can make the decision when necessary.

“We have to step carefully with the virus, and concentrating large numbers of people at this time is not advisable at all.”
