Xabi Alonso has been ranked among the top ten best football coaches in the world, following Bayer Leverkusen’s incredible run in form this season.

It is no news that the former Real Madrid player has led Leverkusen to the German Bundesliga title and remains the only club in Europe’s top five leagues yet to taste a defeat this season.

Xabi Alonso has also guided the current Bundesliga champions to the DFB Pokal final and one leg into the Europa League final after their recent victory over AS Roma on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

However, the Spanish manager is not the only football coach doing an incredible job as several other top coaches also ranked in the best top ten.

There are numerous extraordinary managers in the football world at the moment, with some experienced veterans in the game undergoing a wonderful season and younger managers emerging to claim their place as one of the best.

The 2023-24 season is entering its final phases and there are still some big titles up for grabs, meaning some coaches could yet increase their current position in their respective Leagues before the final whistle is blown.

Meanwhile, some coaches have already lifted League titles and domestic cup competitions, which only helps to increase their reputations.

With that said, below is a list of the ten best coaches in football currently.

1 Pep Guardiola (Manchester City)

2 Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid)

3 Simone Inzaghi (Inter Milan)

4 Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool)

5 Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen)

6 Mikel Arteta (Arsenal)

7 Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid)

8 Unai Emery (Aston Villa)

9 Thomas Tuchel (Bayern Munich)

10 Julian Nagelsmann (Germany)

Pep Guardiola (Manchester City)

As expected, Pep Guardiola is currently the best manager in the football world due to the incredible job he’s doing at Manchester City.

The Cityzens could still potentially win the English Premier League and FA Cup making it a back-to-back glory for the Spaniard manager.

The former Bayern Munich coach has engraved his name as one of the greatest managers of all time. There’s still a lot of time for the 53-year-old to challenge the legacy left in the Premier League by Sir Alex Ferguson, which nobody thought possible when the legendary Scot called it quits in 2013.

Having secured the Citizens’ first-ever European trophy as part of a historic treble in the 2022-23 season, his 38 career trophies make him the second-most decorated manager in football history.

Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid)

Carlo Ancelotti will undoubtedly leave an ever-lasting legacy because he’s one of the exceptional individuals to have won the Champions League (or European Cup) as both a player and manager.

The 64-year-old has won league titles in four of the top five European leagues – Spain, Germany, Italy, and France – and could soon secure a La Liga and Champions League double this season.

Simone Inzaghi (Inter Milan)

Simone Inzaghi has been doing an incredible job at Inter Milan having won the Serie A title against fierce rivals AC Milan at the San Siro this season.

He also came so close to being the first Inter boss since Jose Mourinho to win the Champions League in the 2022-23 season, but he narrowly lost in the final against Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool)

Jurgen Klopp will soon be without a job after the German declared that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

However, he will be fondly remembered as one of the best managers in Premier League history after rebuilding the Reds from a mid-table side into a regular title contender.

At the beginning of 2024, it looked like there was a strong chance that the former Borussia Dortmund manager would be sent off in the greatest way possible but his announcement seems to be a weak point for the players.

Liverpool were actively competing in four competitions and looked almost unstoppable in the wake of Klopp’s announcement. Unfortunately, the 56-year-old has lost the Premier League title which means that he only won a League Cup in his final season at Anfield.

Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen)

Xabi Alonso has done an incredible job during his two seasons at Bayer Leverkusen. His side are on the longest active unbeaten run in Europe and have knocked Bayern Munich off their Bundesliga seat for the first time in over a decade.

Alonso could yet add a domestic and European cup to his trophy cabinet, his tactical intelligence has drawn the interest of several European clubs but the 42-year-old has pledged his future to Bayer Leverkusen.

Mikel Arteta (Arsenal)

It’s obvious that Mikel Arteta has transformed Arsenal in recent years and has the London club in contention to win the Premier League title for a second successive season.

If the Emirates outfit became champions of England for the first time in 20 years, the Spaniard would be undoubtedly praised as a hero.

The Gunners were knocked out of both domestic competitions in the early stages and exited the Champions League in the quarter-finals.

Arteta has done a phenomenal job of having the fans of the club dreaming of success shortly after the fans endured a disappointing period before he arrived at the Emirates Stadium.

Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid)

Diego Simeone has soared among the best coaches in the world for quite some time. Atletico Madrid are set to achieve another successful season as the 2024/2025 Champions League qualification is within reach once more.

As one of the longest-serving managers, Simeone is perhaps the best manager when it comes to taking a practical and solid approach, which is why he’s paid mega-money.

Unai Emery (Aston Villa)

Unai Emery has done great in Aston Villa as the club are currently on the verge of finishing in the top four. Comparing the current state of the English club to when the former Arsenal boss took over from Steven Gerrard shows just how remarkable this achievement is.

He has elevated the likes of John McGinn, Ollie Watkin, and Ezri Konsa to heights that previously seemed impossible, which proves the Spaniard is a brilliant man manager.

Thomas Tuchel (Bayern Munich)

Thomas Tuchel, the Bayern Munich boss will be leaving the Allianz Arena at the end of the 2023/24 season after failing to win the Bundesliga with the German powerhouse.

Despite his domestic troubles in the hot seat, Tuchel has a solid track record in Europe and has guided the Bavarian outfit into the Champions League semi-final.

Should they (Bayern) get past the daunting challenge of Real Madrid, the German side will be the strong favorites to lift their seventh European trophy.

Julian Nagelsmann (Germany)

Nagelsmann will be looking forward to winning his first trophy with Germany in the Euro 2024 because they are the host nation and will have strong support at the tournament.

Eyebrows were raised when Bayern Munich showed the Germanman the exit, as the 36-year-old was doing a commendable job at the time of his dismissal.

Nagelsmann has some of the most exciting young players in the world at his disposal such as Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala and the young boss’ stock will rise significantly if he helps his country to their first Euro 2024 trophy in 10 years.
