West Ham United hosted Newcastle United in the Premier League matchday 8 at the London Stadium on Sunday, October 8, 2023.
The two teams went into the game in fine form following their victory in the European competitions during the midweek.
West Ham secured a win over Freiburg in the UEFA Europa League while Newcastle United demolished French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League.
The two inform teams lock horns against each other on Sunday, the 8th of October as David Moyes’ men sit at home to welcome Eddie Howe’s squad.

The match got underway at exactly 2:00 pm (BST). It was Antonio who made the first pass of the ball for West Ham.
West Ham were quick to see a breakthrough as Paqueta played an excellent pass on the left.
The player outplayed Newcastle’s defenders, beat the goalkeeper, and rolled the ball in the middle.
Soucek was in the correct position to open the scoring for the home team as he slotted the ball into an empty net in the 9th minute of play.
In the 17th minute, Emerson recorded the first booking of the game following a horrible foul on Bruno Guimaraes.
Newcastle United were close to scoring after Almiron received a pass on the right, which got past West Ham United defenders, but he sent the ball wide.
Antonio of West Ham was booked in the 33rd minute for a trolley on Isak of Newcastle while they were trying to build a counter-attack.
A few minutes later, the center referee blew the first-half whistle as West Ham headed to the dressing room with a 1-0 lead over the visitors.
The second half got underway with Isak who made the kick-off pass for Newcastle United.
Alvarez managed to make an effort in the 50th minute as he got his head on the ball, but it went wide off the goal from a cross into the box.
Isak got the cross in and Burn rose high to head the ball powerfully in the top corner but Areola was there to make a great save.
Newcastle United saw a breakthrough in the 57th minute from a free-kick in the middle.
The ball was stretched into the penalty area, Isak was there to shoot and sent the ball into the right place of the net.
The visitors took the lead in the 61st minute of play when Bruno Guimaraes made a pass across to Trippier who crushed the ball in the middle and Isak appeared to smash another one in the back of the net.
Isak was close again in the 72nd minute. He played Areola wide and hit the post from a tight angle.
David Moyes made double changes for West Ham, as Antonio and Soucek subbed off for Kudus and Benrahma.
Ward-Prowse made a powerful effort from a free kick but sent it over the bar before Longstaff was awarded a yellow card.
Mohamed Kudus brought the host to level with a brilliant finish in the 89th minute of play.
The match ended in 90+5 minutes as substitute Kudus dragged the home team to a 2-2 draw at the London Stadium.
