Juventus fans congregated outside the club’s medical center to make chants concerning their disapproval on the signing of Romelu Lukaku to the club.

They said vehemently “we don’t want Lukaku” following reports that Juventus are in pole position to sign the Belgian.

Romelu Lukaku was initially expected to re-sign a deal with Inter Milan, after he spent the entirety of the 2022/23 season on loan at the Giuseppe Meazza.

The 30-year-old reportedly snubbed a return to the Nerazzurri after he was benched for the UEFA Champions League final last term.

Lukaku made 37 appearances last term, scoring 14 goals and providing 7 assists in all competitions.

However, he couldn’t produce similar magic like that of two seasons ago, when he assisted Inter Milan to win the Serie A.

The Old Lady have identified Romelu Lukaku as a possible replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, who has been linked with a move away from the club.

Juventus supporters seemingly do not want him due to his drop in quality, and how his numbers have deteriorate massively over the years.

Romelu Lukaku is reportedly not in the plans of Mauricio Pochettino and he was not included in Chelsea’s preseason tour.

Due to these, the Bianconeri have emerged as leading contenders to land the wishy-washy striker.

There is however trouble regarding earning the trust of Juventus supporters, who haven’t witnessed their side win the Serie A since the 2019/20 season.

Massimo Mauro, who won the Scudetto with the Old lady in 1986 has also opposed the signing of the Belgian.

Mauro told La Gazzetta dello Sport that Lukaku “can score 35 goals” per season when fit, but he could also change to a different preposition when things aren’t going well for him.

“If he stays fit and lucky, he can score 35 goals a season. Otherwise, he can miss simple chances and become the scapegoat as happened in the Champions League final.

“I may be old, but I wouldn’t take players like Lukaku who even publicly said that they would never wear the black and white shirt.”

Lukaku’s history with Juventus fans is also unpleasant

Romelu Lukaku also has a nasty history with Juventus supporters, after 171 fans were banned for racially abusing the Belgium International in April 2023.

A video which surfaced displayed Bianconeri fans chanting “f***ing monkey” and “f*** off” at Lukaku.

The Belgium International converted a penalty in the 5th minute of additional time to draw Inter 1-1 level with Juventus in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi final last term.

Romelu Lukaku was afterwards sent off for gesticulating in a shush manner to the fans during his celebrations, after the referee deemed his actions as provocative.

Inter Milan appealed the one-match suspension on Lukaku which caused massive uproar, however Italian Football Federation president, Gabriele Gravina, overruled the ban.

The 30-year-old has experienced a sharp decline in his career, after falling out of favor with Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.

Lukaku was keen to rekindle his form at Inter but he couldn’t deliver up to expectation despite huge trust put on him by Simone Inzaghi.

His horrendous display at the 2022/23 Champions League final also didn’t aid his case as he missed several glaring chances which could have changed the outcome of the encounter.
