Watford captain Troy Deeney during a post-match interview called a Skysport reporter “Cheeky b*stard.” The skipper was responding to a question about his future and if he had played his last game for the club and if he would be considering retirement.
He quickly responded saying ” i’m not that old you cheeky ba*tard”
Remorsefully, Deeney quickly apologized to the Skysport reporter and acknowledged that he shouldn’t have cursed.
Surprisingly, a lot of fans on social media have reacted to the incident and have rather found the funny side of things as they felt he was emotional due to his team’s relegation.
Evidently, reports now suggest that the club captain may abandon Watford and seek a new adventure elsewhere with offers from the Middle East or USA MLS to consider.
Watford was relegated after their 3-2 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates stadium, they struggled early in the game but were able to put up a fight later in the game to score two goals.
They needed a win at the Emirates to escape relegation as they struggled to leave the drop zone, with Bournemouth and Aston Villa also trying to leapfrog each other.
Watford won 8 matches, draw 10, and lost 20 games, as they finished the league in 19th position. The club Captain is also the club’s top goal-scorer with just 10 goals.
Watford will hope to get back into the English topflight as soon as possible, but the team would have to fight to keep some of its top stars while they try to convince their club Captain to stay in an effort to get back to the EPL.
