Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has insisted that it would be almost impossible for the team to win four titles this season despite the assumption that the team is on the verge of winning quadruple.

In the history of football in England, no club has ever won the quadruple (four major titles in a season). The only European club to ever win quadruple is Scottish side Celtic.

In the 1966-1967 season, Celtic won the European Cup, Scottish First Division, Scottish Cup, and Scottish League Cup. Since then, no club has ever done so well in the history of club football.

But since Liverpool are still very much involved in three major tournaments and they have won the Carabao Cup in February this year, most football Enthusiasts believe that coach Jurgen Klopp and his boys can break Celtic’s record.

What are the major titles Liverpool can still win this season and the club’s chances of winning them?

In February 2022, Liverpool defeated Chelsea 10-11 via penalties to win the Carabao Cup which was their first title in the 2021-2022 season.

On Saturday, April 16, they defeated Manchester City 3-2 in the FA Cup semi-final to book a place in the final of the tournament. Coincidentally, they will have to beat Chelsea again to win the FA Cup title. Based on their current form and the form of Chelsea, Liverpool have a 55 percent chance of winning the FA Cup final.

Aside from that, Liverpool is in the semi-final stage of the UEFA Champions League campaign. They have been paired to play against Villarreal in a 2-legged affair.

If the Premier League side knockout the Spanish side, Liverpool could face either Manchester City or Real Madrid in the final of the tournament. All things being equal, Liverpool have a 50 percent chance of beating Real Madrid or Manchester City if they make it to the final of the Champions League this season.

Liverpool’s 4th opportunity of winning a title this season is in the Premier League. They are currently sitting second on the league table with 73 points in 31 games, a point behind first-place Manchester City.

For them to win the title, Manchester City must lose a match while Liverpool must win their remaining 7 Premier League games including the game against Manchester United on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Liverpool’s chances of overtaking Manchester City on the league table and winning the Premier League title is just 30 percent.

Virgil van Dijk who is one of the captains at Liverpool has stressed that it is almost impossible for Liverpool to win the remaining titles they are currently involved in.

The 30-year-old Dutch center defender who has scored three goals and provided an assist in 42 games said the Quadruple agenda is built to put Liverpool under pressure. Hence, the Netherlands international who has been playing for Liverpool since 2018 called the
    Quadruple agenda a dream.

“Nobody did the quadruple and there is a reason for it – because it is almost impossible to do,” Virgil van Dijk said ahead of the Premier League clash with Manchester United.

“All this talk about quadruple or Treble is from the outside world and could put extra pressure on us.

“It is something that everyone would dream about, to win every competition you participate in, but we will see what it brings. Anything can happen, with other teams as well.”
