Bayern Munich’s new manager Vincent Kompany is reportedly set to part ways with some top Bayern Munich players this summer.
According to Sky Germany, key names in the Bavarians’ squad could leave this summer in the wake of the expected overhaul.
Leading the list is prolific defender Mathijs de Ligt. De Ligt’s campaign with the Bundesliga giants was marred with injuries. The 24-year-old joined the club in 2022 from Juventus. He has made 55 Bundesliga appearances for the club, scoring 5 goals. The Dutch defender has three years left on his contract but could leave this summer.
Former Arsenal and Werder Bremen forward Serge Gnabry, 28, is also on the cut of players likely to leave this summer. The 45-capped Germany international has made 166 Bundesliga appearances for the club, scoring 66 goals. Gnabry struggled for minutes in the just-concluded campaign, making only 10 Bundesliga appearances for the club. The prolific forward has two years remaining in his contract but is reportedly included in the Bundesliga chopping block.
Other names making the exit lists are Kingsley Coman, Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, and Noussair Mazraoui.
Futballnews reported earlier that Vincent Kompany has eyed two Premier League veterans – Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United and Oleksandr Zinchenko of Arsenal as his priority targets to beef up the Bavarians squad as he prepares for a successful ride with the club.
Despite his nascent sail in football management, Kompany has the full backing of Bayern Munich hierarchy and is tipped to reverse the club’s misfortunes in the last campaign for a rewarding 2024-25 season.
The former Burnley manager hopes to effect the needed overhaul as he sets out to lead the Bundesliga giants to victory next season.
