    Akin revealed he was shot in the foot following the UEFA Europa League game in a post shared on his socials, where he was seen lying on the pavement, wearing shots, with his right ankle visibly injured and covered in blood.

    The Turkish football pundit has since been pictured in an hospital where he is expected to undergo surgery.

    A trail of blood on the ground was also seen next to Serhat Akin, with the 43-year-old captioning the photo on his social media accounts with the words: “As I was leaving the program, I was shot in the feet; our last words are Fenerbahce.”

    Turkish Politician Mustafa Sarigul Visits Serhat Akin In The Hospital

    Mustafa Sarigul paid a visit to Akin in the hospital, with the Turkish politician sharing a video on his X account on Friday, September 27, 2024, where he was seen discussing with the former Anderlecht star.

    Serhat Akin was also spotted in a hospital bed after staying overnight, with the footage shared by Mustafa captioned with the words which read: “Good luck to my brother Serhat Akin. No thought can be silenced with a gun.”

    Based on reports from the Sun, the incident occurred in the Beykov region of Istanbul after Akin had concluded his evening’s work for Turkish broadcaster Sports Digitale.

    The former Turkish striker was attacked outside the studio, and the incident was captured in local security footage, where it was seen that a masked figure apparently approached Serhat Akin.

    It’s said that one individual shot Akin who hastily took shelter behind a car, while the masked person quickly crossed the street and was escorted away on a motorbike.

    Reports indicate that local police have launched an investigation into the shooting, while the Turkish pundit’s friend, Tuncay Sali, who is a former player of Middlesbrough and Stoke City disclosed that Serhat Akin was to undergo surgery.

    Sali also shared with newsmen that his friend is well, however, his morale has been dampened by the shooting.

    Tuncay Sali said: “He is currently very well, his morale is low. There is not much to say. He will undergo surgery tomorrow.”

    The 42-year-old also emphasized his closeness with Serhat Akin, tagging him as his “brother”.

    Sali added: “I was with my brother because of the situation. He is my brother, we have experienced great things together. We have also experienced sadness.

    “I came to him as soon as I heard. There is nothing very serious about his condition. He will most likely undergo surgery tomorrow.”

    Fenerbahce And The Turkish Football Federation Send Their Best Wishes To Serhat Akin

    Fenerbahce, alongside the  Turkish Football Federation, have also sent out cheerful words to Akin in this trying time.

    They wrote: “We condemn the armed attack on our former football player Serhat Akin.

    “We wish him a speedy recovery. We expect the perpetrators to be held accountable before justice as soon as possible.”

    The Turkish Football Federation stated: “We have learned with regret that former national team player Serhat Akin was injured in his foot as a result of an armed attack.

    “We strongly condemn the heinous attack and wish Serhat Akin a speedy recovery.”

    Meanwhile, Fenerbahce secured a 2-1 win over Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday, September 26, 2024, courtesy goals from Caglar Soyuncu and Christian Burgess, with Ross Sykes netting the lone goal for the visitors after Franjo Ivanovic had missed a penalty.
