Marquinhos embarked on his journey with Paris Saint-Germain on July 1, 2013, transferring from the Italian side AS Roma at the tender age of 19.

The defender’s arrival marked a new chapter for PSG, coinciding with the conclusion of Leandro’s tenure as Sporting Director.

In a recent interview with Canal Plus, the Brazilian central defender stated his intentions to continue at Parc De Princes and even retire when the time comes

Marquinhos said: “I see my future here at PSG. This shirt, this club, this city is my home.

“I’m ready to help in any possible way and I’d be more than happy to spend the rest of my career at PSG”.

“Yes, retiring here would not be bad!”

Initially lacking in experience but brimming with potential, Marquinhos quickly rose through the ranks, eventually assuming the role of assistant captain alongside Brazilian and current Chelsea player compatriot Thiago Silva.

As Thiago Silva bid farewell to PSG, Marquinhos seamlessly transitioned into the captaincy, wielding the armband with authority.

His leadership qualities and commanding presence on the pitch made him a natural choice to succeed Thiago Silva, solidifying his status as a stalwart for the club.

With four years remaining on his contract, the 29-year-old has expressed his desire to retire at Paris Saint Germain, underscoring his unwavering commitment to the club’s cause.

In the spring of 2023, amidst the contract renewals that saw Marco Verratti depart for Al Arabi in Qatar, Marquinhos reaffirmed his allegiance to PSG by signing a new deal, extending his tenure until the summer of 2028.

Having dedicated a decade of his life to Paris Saint Germain since his arrival in 2013, Marquinhos remains steadfast in his ambition to continue wearing the club’s colors and potentially conclude his illustrious career at the Parc des Princes.

With an illustrious trophy cabinet boasting eight Ligue 1 titles and twelve domestic cups, Marquinhos has etched his name in PSG’s history books.

His remarkable journey with the club spans 12 seasons, encompassing 508 appearances and 39 goals.

While the current season has seen him find the back of the net twice, Marquinhos’s contributions extend beyond mere statistics, embodying the spirit and resilience of Paris Saint Germain both domestically and on the international stage.

Having made his full international debut for Brazil in 2013, Marquinhos’s prowess transcends club football, as evidenced by his participation in the 2014 Toulon under-21 side.

As he continues to etch his legacy at PSG, Marquinhos remains a symbol of dedication, loyalty, and excellence, epitomizing the values that define the club’s rich heritage.

With his sights set on further triumphs and milestones, Marquinhos’ journey serves as a testament to the enduring bond between player and club, a bond forged through passion, perseverance, and unwavering commitment.
