Valencia have successfully secured a loan deal for Sevilla striker Rafa Mir, with an option to buy him for €5 million.
The 27-year-old, who previously played for Valencia from 2015 to 2018, has been on the radar of his former club for the past year and a half.
According to reports, negotiations between Valencia and Sevilla have been ongoing for weeks, but a deal has finally been struck.
Mir, who has been on the fringes at Sevilla, is set to make his dream return to the Mestalla on a loan deal.
Valencia manager Ruben Baraja needed a replacement for Roman Yaremchuk, and Mir is expected to partner Hugo Duro in the team’s attack next season.
Mir will be aiming to revive his career, which has stalled in recent years, with his move to Valencia.
Meanwhile, Sevilla will be happy to remove his wages from their budget, aiming to create salary space for their signings.
The 27-year-old player will undergo his medicals on Friday morning, July 12 before signing a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2025.
Mir expressed his gratitude to the Wolves and bid farewell to their fans on social media, despite spending the past year and a half on loan at Huesca.
As his contract with Wolves was nearing its end, the club needed to offload the player, who was eager to stay in Spain after a successful stint with Huesca.
Mir posted: “It’s time to say goodbye to Wolverhampton and thank all the people who have helped me to grow in this time, my teammates and coaching staff.”
“To you, the fans, I would like to thank you for teaching me what this historic club and the Molineux Stadium means, I wish you the best for the future.”
