USWNT’s Crystal Dunn is expecting her first child in May, but that hasn’t stopped her from doing some exercise. Crystal Dunn posted a video of herself training while pregnant on her social media sites on Tuesday, and she’s still at it six months later.

Dunn and her husband, Pierre Soubrier, revealed in November that they were expecting a human kid to join their five hens and three cats. Dunn joined the Portland Thorns in 2020, and Soubrier is the head athletic trainer for the team, so it’s understandable that she’s not taking it easy, even while pregnant.

Who is Crystal Dunn?

Crystal Alyssia Dunn Soubrier (née Dunn; born July 3, 1992) is an American soccer player who currently plays for the Portland Thorns FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), the top level of women’s professional soccer in the United States, as well as the US women’s national team.

Crystal Dunn is a versatile and vicious player who thrives at almost every position on the pitch. Dunn solidified her spot as a wing-back with the USWNT in 2018, after lining up as a forward, midfielder, and defender throughout her time at UNC. For her current team, the NC Courage, she continues to play as an outside midfielder, forward, and even an attacking center midfielder.

Accolades Received

Crystal Dunn has won nearly every team and individual award. Dunn received five Player of the Year accolades as a senior in high school, including the New York Gatorade Player of the Year title.

Dunn was crowned the country’s top collegiate player as the recipient of the coveted Hermann Trophy, in addition to winning the 2012 NCAA Championship with UNC.

She was also selected defender and player of the year for the Atlantic Coast Conference. It wasn’t simply collegiate prizes that were given out in 2012. Dunn was a key member of the U-20 team that won the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan.

Dunn continued to make headlines in the professional ranks, scoring 15 goals for the Washington Spirit in 2015, earning him the NWSL Golden Boot, a berth on the NWSL Best XI, and the league’s MVP award at the age of 23. (she remains the youngest player to win the NWSL MVP).

Dunn continued to play a key role for the United States the following year, leading the Stars and Stripes in scoring in the Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament to win her second Golden Boot.

Last season, Dunn was named to the NWSL Best XI for her contribution to the NC Courage’s trophy sweep (NWSL Shield, NWSL Championship and ICC Championship). Dunn is motivated to win the most coveted of trophies in France in 2019, after missing out on the World Cup squad in 2015.

Reunited with former club

Crystal Dunn played youth soccer for Paul Riley and the Albertson Fury in New Hyde Park, New York. When Dunn left Chelsea to join the North Carolina Courage in 2018, she had the opportunity to rejoin with her former club coach on a professional level.

Dunn was also reunited with her college coach, Anson Dorrance, after returning to her alma mater, UNC. “A lot of what Paul teaches to us today is similar to what Anson was preaching four or five years ago,” Dunn says of the trio reunion.
