Brentford came from behind to defeat Tottenham Hotspur with two second-half goals from Bryan Mbeumo.

Brentford’s win against Tottenham put Spurs’ hope of qualifying for European football in danger. If Aston Villa defeat Liverpool, they will go beyond Tottenham, who are currently in 7th place.

Harry Kane’s free kick from 30 yards gave the Spurs their first-half lead. But two goals from Mbeumo in the space of 12 minutes in the second half made Tottenham fans silent.

Yoane Wissa nailed the win for Brentford even without the presence of Ivan Toney. Brentford had been guaranteed their highest finish and can also get a European football if they win the remaining match.

How Tottenham Hotspur Lost to Brentford

Just in the 8th minute of the match, Tottenham went ahead with a beautiful free kick from the man of the moment, Harry Kane.

Kane’s strike from outside the box looked unstoppable. It was Harry Kane’s 30th goal of the season and his 28th in the Premier League.

Tottenham had another chance to make it 2-0, but Brentford’s Rico’s defensive brilliance was called upon as he made an excellent clearance.

Before the end of the first half, Brentford gave the ball away in a dangerous area. Dejan Kulusevski collected the ball, but his shot was saved by Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

Five minutes into the second half, Mbeumo scored an equalizer in a well-timed manner. He found space on the left wing and executed a shot into the back of the net.

Mbeumo was assisted by Yoane Wissa. Tottenham’s defense has been extremely poor in the game, with no cover for the goalkeeper.

It is an excellent turnaround for Brentford, as the Bees midfielder cut open the Tottenham defense through the left side.

Mbeumo, who scored the first goal, made it two with a well-placed shot against Tottenham goalkeeper Fraser.

Brentford made it 3-1 in the 88th minute, with Tottenham’s Skipp giving away the ball.

Mbeumo pounced on Skipp’s mistake and gave the ball to the running Wissa, who made no mistake in putting the ball into the net.

Brentford’s David Raya made a double save to deny Tottenham another goal. The Spanish goalkeeper put his body on the line to prevent Richarlison from scoring the second goal.

In the extra minute of the second half, Tottenham Hotspur thought they had scored, but Ben Mee cleared the ball to make the score line the same.

This was the first time Tottenham led at halftime in a Premier League home game but went on to lose since April 2021 against Manchester United.
