Two Premier League players were arrested outside a football stadium for an alleged rape according to reports.
The Sun reported that police arrived at the stadium over the weekend and questioned one undisclosed 19-year-old player on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape.
The player whose name is not mentioned was allowed to leave the stadium after questioning but was later arrested.
The following day, his team-mate, who is also 19-year-old was arrested and questioned on suspicion of rape.
Both anonymous players, from the same club, were released on bail on Tuesday, April 23 while further investigations are ongoing.
The alleged incident reportedly occurred on Friday night, April 19 with the victim contacting police and filing a formal complaint shortly after.
A police spokesperson told The Sun: “Officers have arrested two men following a report of a rape. A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape. A second 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape. Both men have since been released on police bail.”
The report further reveals that one of the players spent the night in police custody and was questioned by detectives in connection with the alleged rape that was said to have occurred on Friday, April 19.
The club have not released any statement in regards to the charges pressed against their players but they disclosed that discussions regarding the “next steps” were underway.

The Premier League is facing a wave of scandal as multiple high-profile players have been embroiled in alleged sex scandals.
Amidst the ongoing investigations, some players have already faced consequences such as being released on bail or even leaving their clubs.
At the beginning of the season, Telegraph Sport reported on one alleged rape incident involving a Premier League player who has been informed by the police that he will be facing a second investigation.
The well-known international player was initially arrested at a location in north London in 2022 and was subsequently released while the investigation continued.
Notable arrests also included Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood, who was arrested in January 2022 but had charges of attempted rape and assault dropped after an internal investigation.
Greenwood left Old Trafford by mutual agreement and spent the season on loan at Getafe in Spain.
Additionally, former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy was acquitted of rape allegations and is now playing for Lorient in France.
What’s next for the premier league players?
The football world is left reeling as these shocking revelations continue to surface. The police will now be conducting further inquiries into this matter, with the likelihood that the accused individuals might be released on bail.
