After he signed the new deal, Trevoh Chalobah said: “It’s quite surreal. It’s a dream for me to sign a new long-term contract for my boyhood club and hopefully, the dream continues.
“It’s been an unbelievable start to the season and something I never expected but it just shows that the hard work I’ve put in and gone out on loans has paid off.
“I tried to impress the manager in pre-season and then take that into the games so it’s been good and consistency now is the key to keep those high levels.”
While Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said: “To see Trevoh joining so many of his fellow Academy graduates in the men’s first team is something we are exceptionally proud of as a Club. When he scored in the first game of the Premier League season, it was an emotional moment for everyone involved in his progress to this point.
“His performances in the early months of the season, as well as his attitude and professionalism, have impressed us all and we are very pleased to be able to reward Trevoh’s progress with this new long-term contract.”

The football journey of Trevoh Chalobah and where his parents came from
Trevoh Chalobah and his elder brother Nathaniel Chalobah (currently plays for Championship club Fulham) were born in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chalobah moved to London with the footballers when they were still children. According to reports, their mother died a few years ago which means that they are left with their father.
When Trevoh was 8-year-old, he joined his elder brother at Chelsea academy. His elder brother joined Chelsea senior team in 2010 and stayed with the team for seven years, going from clubs to clubs on loan before he decided to join Watford in 2017 and then joined Fulham in 2021.
As for Trevoh Chalobah, he gained promotion to Chelsea senior team on July 1, 2021, after he has spent some time on loan at Ipswich in 2018, Huddersfield in 2019, and FC Lorient in 2020.
The 2021 UEFA Super Cup between Chelsea and Villarreal was Trevoh’s first game for the London-based club. Chelsea won the game via penalty shootout.
The defender is expecting coach Gareth Southgate to invite him to the England national team since he has played for England at various youth levels from Under-16 to Under-21. He was part of the English team that won the European Under-19 Championship in 2017.
