Hojbjerg to wear #5.
The 25-year-old Danish international is a versatile midfielder with the ability to play multiple roles across the midfield and play as a left-back and right back in his career. He had his youth career in Denmark with BK Skjold, Copenhagen and Brondby IF before moving to German club Bayern Munich in 2012 making a total of 61 appearances for the B-team and the senior team while he also had short loan spells at Shalke 04 and Augsburg FC in Germany between 2015 and 2016 played 39 times for both clubs. He won 2 league titles with the Bavarian club and 2 DFB Pokal in 2012/13 and 2013/14, while he was part of the squad that won the Champions League in 2012 and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2013.
In 2016, he signed for Southampton on a five-year contract worth around £12.8 million, his tenacity and intensity earned him praise from the club fans as he played 134 matches for the Saints scoring five goals and assisted six goals.
Futballnews reported earlier that deals between Tottenham and Southampton had reached an advanced stage as finishing touches were put on his contract to the London club.
Welcome to London, Hojbjberg.
Hojbjerg will bring a lot of energy and direct play to Tottenham’s play, just the kind of player Jose Mourinho loves to work with, while the fate of Ndombele is yet to be determined. We’ll have to wait and see how the coach utilizes the club’s most expensive signing.
