Todd Boehly, Chelsea owner, has thrown the hopes of Chelsea fans in the bin after he failed to give them an assurance of a speedy return to winning ways in his recent interview.

The Blues owner confirmed that there is an issue with the club but said reluctantly that the problems will be “figured out”.

Chelsea have struggled this season and they currently sit 12th in the log table of the 2022/23 Premier League.

Boehly have already worked with two managers in his first year at Stamford Bridge and have sacked both – Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.

Since the appointment of Frank Lampard as interim manager, the blues’ performance has dwindled as the club continue to slid down the EPL table.

This has happened despite the massive spending by the owner since he took over at the club, it has also seen high transfer fees and long contracts handed to players that are yet to do the business on the pitch.

There has also been fight amongst the players off the pitch as they were allegedly arguing with each other on the bench during last defeat to Arsenal.

Todd Boehly also confirmed that they “want to win” and that this particular process is part of a “long-term project”.

Speaking on an interview with Sky Sports, Boehly said; “The fans are demanding.”

“You know they want to win and we get that we want to win so you know, I think our view though was that this is a long-term project and you know we’re committed to the long-term.”

“We very much believe that we’re going to figure it out.”

“We’ve got the best league in the world, we’ve got what I think is the top city in the world and we’ve got an unbelievable location in the top city in the world.”

The words he spoke in the interview failed to inspire and motivate Chelsea fans on Social Media.

One pissed off fan took to the comment section and said; “‘We’ll figure it out’. I’ve never been so reassured.”

The second fan also commented saying; “He knows nothing about football, he’s just a businessman who puts money in a club to have fun… But this club is Chelsea, which is not a toy!”

The third fan sounded more disappointed as he wrote: “It’s the short-term I’m worried about.”

Whilst the fourth fan in that vein said: “Long-term but sacks Potter after a few months, what a joke this man is.”

Who is Todd Boehly?

Todd Boehly is an American businessman and investor who was born on September 20, 1973.

Boehly is the co-founder, chairman, chief executive officer and controlling member of Eldridge Industries, a holding company headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut.

The American is also the interim CEO of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and co-controlling owner and chairman of Premier League football club Chelsea.

Chelsea on May 6, 2022, confirmed that his bid had been accepted and would be finalized by the end of the month.

The bid was however approved by the UK and Portuguese governments, Premier League, and the European Union, due to Abramovich’s Portuguese citizenship.

The takeover was completed on 30th May 2022 and Boehly became the chairman and interim sporting director of Chelsea on June 20, 2022, after Bruce Buck stepped down.

Boehly also stepped down as the interim sporting director of Chelsea on January 9, 2023.

Many fans have argued that Todd Boehly doesn’t have the right vision to lead the club despite being financially buoyant.

Since the American took over the club, Chelsea have struggled to even stay on the top half of the table and they are on the verge of relegation for the first time since 1992.
