Serge Gnabry’s brace helps fire Bayern Munich into the Champions League final as he cements his spot as one of the best and most exciting wingers in world football.

Since moving to the Allianz Arena, the German international has experienced a meteoric rise across Europe.

This season, Robert Lewandowski might be in the spotlight for Bayern’s successful Champions League run, but Serge Gnabry has been exceptional and is one of the stars of the Bavarian’s Campaign.

On Wednesday, he opened the scoring with a left-footed screamer against Lyon, after taking away half of the team with a beautiful piece of attacking display and sheer individual brilliance.

He finished the game with a brace, doubling his tally in the 33rd minute from close range.

He has now recorded nine goals and two assists in nine appearances this season in the Champions League, while he has scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions.

Serge Gnabry is now the second German player to net a brace in a Champions League semi-final, with Thomas Müller being the first in the 2012/13 season.

Former head coach Arsene Wenger reveals that he regrets how things panned out with the German attacker during his stint at the Emirates.

Gnabry, who moved to the Arsenal youth system in 2011, struggled to break into the Gunners first-team. He made only 18 appearances before a failed loan to West Brom in 2015, where he made just one appearance under Tony Pulis.

He returned to Germany in 2016, joining Werder Bremen permanently before Bayern Munich snapped him up a year later.

Bayern boss Hansi Flick believes Serge Gnabry is close to being a world-class player after firing Bayern Munich into the Champions League final.

Speaking at a news conference, Flick said: “The opening goal he scored was fantastic, how he finished it and how he maneuvered himself into that position,”

”And if you look at his development not only at Bayern Munich but in the national team then you have to say he’s really close to becoming a world-class player.”

He added, “He’s very dynamic and very dangerous in front of goal and we are very happy that he scored a brace and that he is with us in our team.

“He has great qualities and I am convinced he hasn’t reached his potential.”
