Newly-signed Newcastle player, Sandro Tonali, was reportedly forced out of AC Milan as per a new report on his move to Newcastle United.

The Italian defender left the club in tears after AC Milan pressed on with the decision to sell him to Newcastle United despite his opposition to the move.

Tonali, who is now set to begin a new chapter of his career with Newcastle, was hopeful of continuing with his career with the Rossoneri but was axed off the club.

Italian outlet, la Republica said Sandro Tonali had to be forcefully sold by AC Milan because the club needed funds to proceed on other deals this summer.

AC Milan reportedly told the midfielder of their decision to sell him leaving the fast-rising Italian midfielder saddened.

Newcastle United quickly sealed a deal with AC Milan for Sandro Tonali, paying as much as £70m plus add-ons to land the midfielder.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed Sandro Tonali joined Newcastle United for £70m in a deal thought to be the most expensive deal for an Italian midfielder.

He has penned a six-year contract with the Magpies to stay at the club till 2029, and will join the club in their first Champions League football after 20 years next season.

Tonali grew and nurtured his career with Brescia before making the big move to AC Milan. He joined the Rossoneri in 2020 on a loan move before the deal was made permanent.

Tonali saw a leap in his career after the big move to AC Milan, winning the Scudetto with the club in 2022. He has made 130 appearances for the club, scoring 7 goals with 13 assists.

Tonali blended with his teammates and was on the rise before the unprepared exit this summer.

According to Tuttosport, Tonali’s AC Milan exit is also coming as a shock to his teammates who knew the player wanted to stay in Milan. However, the move needed to happen from the club’s perspective.

Tonali reportedly snubbed a move to AC Milan city rivals Inter Milan to join the Rossoneri in 2020 because of his affinity to the club from his teenage years.

According to Tonali, his agent was in negotiations with Inter Milan for a move but he decided to jettison the offer and chose AC Milan.

Now, the 23-year-old will be left disappointed after his brilliant start to a big career at AC Milan which has now been scuttled.

Tonali is regarded as one of the fast-rising youngsters in Italian football. He made his Italy debut in 2019 and has won 14 caps with the team.
