Liverpool suffered a major blow midway through the first half of their Premier League clash at Wolves . The Reds front man and star Sadio Mane, was forced off through injury.
The Senegal international appeared to have picked up a minor dent. It is believed Mane picked up what looked like a muscle problem at Molineux. This could be bad news for the Reds, as an injury to their forward could end Liverpool’s near-perfect season.
The Senegalese forward has been one of the Reds’ star players this term, starting in all fixtures and scoring 11 goals. Sadio Mane also managed to give eight assists for the league leaders this season.
However, they may now face a period without him after he pulled out with what appeared to be a hamstring injury during their match against Wolves on Thursday night.
The 27-year-old could be seen sitting down on the pitch after wandering towards the touchline while play was ongoing. Klopp then settled to replace Mane by putting on new signing Takumi Minamino, who was handed his Premier League debut.
It is expected that Mane will be missing from the frontlines during Liverpool’s FA Cup fourth round clash against Shrewsbury and could miss Premier League games against West Ham and Southampton. Jurgen Klopp May have a number on his hand as he is in need of his star man. Mane’s fitness will be top priority for Klopp as he is expected to return for next week’s league trip to West Ham.
Liverpool will however be hoping the Premier League’s first winter break after the Saints fixture will give him ample time to recover. This is ahead of a trip to Norwich and the Champions League last 16 first leg against Atletico Madrid in which Mane’s presence on the pitch is highly needed.
Liverpool currently are at the top of the EPL table and 16 points clear of second place, Manchester City with a game at hand.
