Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo is hoping that the club would have made the right decision after sacking Maurizio Sarri.
The coach was sacked after the Bainconerri failed to progress to the last eight of the Champions League after losing to Lyon courtesy of an away goal in a clash that ended 2-2 on aggregate.
Lyon won the first leg 1-0 in France while Juve won the second leg 2-1 in Turin. The French club will now be meeting Manchester City, who was recently dethroned as Premier League champions.
Ronaldo’s brace in the game was not enough to secure the last eight berth for the Serie A winners, who had lost the Coppa Italia trophy to Napoli from penalties.
The five-time world footballer of the year took to his Instagram page to write: “May us all make the best decisions for the future.”
Can Pirlo guide Ronaldo and other Juve players to glory
Following their ouster from the competition, the club sacked Sarri and replaced him with former Juventus midfielder, Andrea Pirlo ahead of pre-season training which resumes in a couple of weeks.
Ronaldo, who noted that 2019/20 season is over much later than usual but yet sooner than expected said it calls for reflection, and it is time to analyze the ups and downs because critical thinking is the only way to improve.
“A huge club such as Juventus must always think like the best in the world, work like the best in the world, so that we can call ourselves one of the best and biggest clubs in the world.
“Winning the Serie A once again in such a difficult year is something that we are very proud of. Personally, scoring 37 goals for Juventus and 11 for the Portuguese National Team is something that makes me face the future with renewed ambition and desire to keep doing better and better each year. But the fans demand more from us. They expect more from us. And we have to deliver, we must live up to the highest expectations.
“May this short vacation break allow us all to make the best decisions for the future and come back stronger and more committed than ever. See you soon!”
Other Juve players including Miralem Pjanic, Leonardo Bonucci, Paulo Dybala, and Juan Cuadrado, posted their respective messages on the social media messages but made no mention of Sarri or his dismissal.
Meanwhile, some reports in Italy say Ronaldo had threatened to quit Juventus if Sarri had remained in his role. But this is not confirmed as speculated.
