Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo has picked out Manchester City forward for commendation ahead of Real Madrid’s semi-final first leg clash with Manchester City on Tuesday.
Rodrygo stated that no one knows how to stop Haaland, due to the fact that the Norwegian scores many goals.
After the expiration of the 2021/22 Champions League campaign where Real Madrid knocked out Manchester City from the competition, City sought to improve their squad in the summer and they brought in Erling Haaland.
Erling Haaland has netted 51 goals in all competitions since joining the Citizens from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022.
The Norwegian also leads the goalscoring chart in the Premier League with 35 goals scored in 32 games, smashing the previous top-flight record jointly held by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.
The former RB Sarlzburg forward has created a remarkable partnership with his teammates and that has helped Manchester City be in a great position where they could win the treble.
And discussing with RTVE, Rodrygo stated that he hopes Erling Haaland doesn’t score against Real Madrid.
He said: “Haaland scores a lot of goals, no one knows how to stop him. I hope he doesn’t score against us.
“Manchester City is always scary. They’re a great team, they play very well, but we are confident that we can win.”
Additionally, Haaland is also the top scorer in the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League season, netting 12 goals in only eight appearances for the Citizens.
Rodrygo has been wonderful for Real Madrid this campaign
Rodrygo, who has been in impressive form for Real Madrid has scored three goals and provided an assist in Real Madrid’s last five matches.
The 22-year-old has had a wonderful season and he has cemented a place in the starting eleven of Carlo Ancelotti.
Rodrygo Silva De Goes has made 30 league appearances for Real Madrid this campaign, providing eight assists and scoring six goals.
According to Madrid Universal, the Brazilian who was born in Osasco, São Paulo creates 10 big chances and averages 1.4 important passes every game.
Erling Haaland is in line to earn £5 million in bonuses if he assists Manchester City to win the treble this campaign.
It is believed that Haaland will earn around £1m each if Manchester City wins the Premier League and Champions League trophies.
The 22-year-old will pocket an additional £350,000 should the Manchester club defeat Man United in the FA Cup final next month.
The former Molde striker will also earn other bonuses if he wins individual awards including the PFA Player of the Year and Football Writers Player of the Year awards.
Earlier this season, the Telegraph reported that managers in the Premier League were calling each other up to discuss how dangerous Erling Haaland is, fearful of the damage he could do, startled by his physical and technical qualities and what they plan could be in order to stop him.
The Norwegian has since gone on to produce more than half of a century of goals for Manchester City so far.
