Lauren James produced a remarkable display in Women Super League clash against Liverpool on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

The former Arsenal and Manchester United forward scored a hat-trick as Chelsea demolished Liverpool 5-1 in Women Super League clash.

The 22-year-old opened the scoring for Chelsea before Liverpool fought back to level the score with an own goal from Carter.

Aggier Beever-Jones returned Chelsea to the lead before the break with a sensational goal to make it 2-1.

Lauren James then inflicted more misery on Liverpool with a quickfire second half double to make it 4-1 in a flash. It was gameover for the visitors as Chelsea added the fifth goal with Nusken’s strike.

The match ended with Chelsea easing to an emphatic 5-1 win courtesy of Lauren James brilliant performance.

Speaking after the game, Chelsea coach Emma Hayes hailed Lauren James as a ‘naturally gifted player’ who knows her way around the ball.

However, Lauren James was full of praise for Emma Hayes after the hat-trick. She dedicated the goals to Hayes who is set to leave the team for USWNT job.

The victory over Liverpool consolidated Chelsea’s position as leaders of the WSL table. They have now extended the lead at the top to 6 points.

James has now taken her goal tally to 4 goals in 6 games with one assists so far this season.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising women footballers in England. She is known for her creativity with the ball and proficiency on one-on-one situations.

James was discovered by Arsenal at the age of 13 in 2014. She had spells with Chelsea youth between 2010 to 2014 before joining Arsenal where she subsequently burgeoned into a full-blown professional footballer.

After three years with Arsenal youth, Lauren James transitioned to Arsenal first team in 2017. She made just 5 appearances for the club before joining Manchester United the next year in 2018.

At Manchester United, Lauren James made 40 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals. She joined Chelsea in 2021 signing a four-year contract and has made 30 appearances for the club with 10 goals.

Lauren James is a top shot with England senior women national team. She made her debut in 2022 and has won 18 caps to her belt with 4 goals.
