Manchester City forward, Raheem Sterling, has now beaten Cristiano Ronaldo’s all-time Premier League goals record.

The Englishman scored his 85th Premier League goal against Watford in the team’s 4-0 win at Vicarage Road.

Meanwhile, Sterling is still a long way short of Frank Lampard’s non-striker scoring record for Chelsea.

Unorthodox Raheem Sterling among top goalscorers

Since he is not an out and out striker, it could be hard for Sterling to win the prize with 4 goals separating him and Vardy.

The winger who moved to City from Liverpool in 2015 is one of the players that posed a regular goal-scoring threat from outside the forward line.

According to the Premier League history, only five non-strikers have managed to score more than the former Liverpool winger. He is now number six on the list that includes Eden Hazard, who also scored 85 goals at Chelsea.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier, who scored 100 Premier League goals with the Saints is ahead of the pair. The number is 160 when taking into account his strikes in the First Division prior to 1992-93.

Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard top the list with an incredible 177 and 120 goals respectively.

Apart from joining the big boys on the list of unorthodox goalscorers, Sterling has also bettered his own personal best for a single season. His best was in 2017-18 as City won the English crown.

With consisteny, the growing forward is capable of moving further up the table at least he if can’t dislodge Lampard.
