Following an enthralling season filled with lots of exciting moments, breathtaking performances and thrilling games, the Premier League have released the nominees for the Player of the Season award.
Players namely; Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Harry Kane, Martin Odegaard, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Kieran Trippier made the shortlist.
Based off the names mentioned, it is visible to see that Arsenal and Manchester City have two men battling for the gong.
Erling Haaland and Bukayo Saka were also nominated for the English Premier League Young Player of the Year award.
Manchester City midfielder De Bruyne is the last winner of the Premier League player of the season award, while he also went home with it in the 2019/20 campaign.
If Kevin De Bruyne comes out tops again, he would become the first player to win Premier League Player of the Season award three times.
This campaign, the Belgian has netted seven goals and provided 18 assists in the English Premier League.
Additionally, Erling Haaland has enjoyed an incredible first campaign at Manchester City and has scored 36 goals in the Premier League in 33 appearances.
Bukayo Saka played an important role in Arsenal’s push for the Premier League crown as he also contributed in his on way with 13 goals and 11 assists so far.
Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard has scored 15 goals in the Premier League and has also provided eight assists.
Mancunian attacker of Manchester United, Marcus Rashford has produced some remarkable performances for Manchester United this season.
His present goal tally is 16 goals and he has also made 8 assists in the English Premier League.
Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier has been part of a sublime Newcastle United team which also took the league by storm in the early phase of the campaign.
They have had an impressive season so far and that can be attributed to the contributions of a player like Kieran Trippier.
Trippier has featured in all of Newcastle United’s 35 league matches in this campaign thus far scoring just a goal and providing 7 assists.
Tottenham Hotspur’s goal poacher Harry Kane has been magnificent this campaign although it has slightly gone under the rader due to the exploit of Haaland.
The man who has been rumored to be in the eye of Manchester United has netted 27 goals and provided 3 assists.
Egyptian Mohamed Salah wasn’t nominated in spite of his 19 goals and 10 assists contributions for Liverpool.
For the young player of the season award, big names like Erling Haaland, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard made the cut.
Newcastle United’s impressive center back Sven Botman and forward Alexander Isak are also jostling for the award alongside Brighton pair Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister.
While the coaches who were nominated for the Manager of the Season award are: Mikel Arteta, Roberto De Zerbi, Unai Emery, Pep Guardiola, Eddie Howe, and Marco Silva.
Liverpool manger Jurgen Klopp was named the Manger of the Season last campaign, however he hasn’t done enough in the eyes of the nominators to merit a place in the list.
Last season, Phil Foden won the young player of the season award while as earlier stated Kevin De Bruyne won the coveted Premier League Player of the Season award.
