A Premier League player who was detained on rape suspicion on Monday is being questioned about two separate assaults on different women.
According to The Telegraph, the footballer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was first detained in London earlier this week as a result of a preliminary complaint made to the Metropolitan Police.
More information has since become available, including a new line of inquiry into two additional alleged assaults by the suspect, who is apparently a well-known athlete from throughout the world who was expected to participate in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

“On 4 July, an allegation of rape of a woman in her 20s was reported to police. It was reported the alleged rape happened in June 2022. On 4 July, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and taken into custody.”
“While in custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of two incidents of rape that were alleged to have been committed in April and June of 2021 against a different woman in her 20s.”
“He has subsequently been released on bail to a date in August. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
How cops tracked down a connection between the footballer and his two ‘rape victims’
After messages between the two claimed victims were exchanged on Instagram, police reportedly re-arrested the anonymous Premier League player accused of rape.
Several Metropolitan Police units were dispatched to the international footballer’s London residence at around 3 a.m. on Monday to arrest on rape suspicion. The footballer cannot be identified for legal reasons. He was transported to a close-by police station.
The Premier League player was subsequently detained on Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of two additional rape occurrences involving a different woman. He was given a release date in August and is now free on bail. His club has declined to respond to the allegations at the time of publishing this report.
The Sun reports that a woman has informed the police she was sexually assaulted by the unidentified footballer on a Mediterranean vacation a week ago and has provided them with proof of the bruising she allegedly sustained as a result of the alleged incident.
The woman, who is also unable to be identified due to legal restrictions, reportedly told the police that she had contacted a second alleged victim via Instagram. The football player and the two alleged victims are all in their 20s and are both linked with the Premier League player who is slated to play in the World Cup in Qatar.
“The woman received a private message on Instagram,” said a source. “The correspondent claimed that she had been raped by this footballer in 2021.
“When the woman was giving her statement to police about last month’s alleged holiday attack, she also showed cops the messages she had received. Police took the separate claims very seriously, and re-arrested the player in relation to those accounts too. This is now a multi-pronged inquiry.”
The Premier League footballer’s team has reluctant to comment on the situation, but a source claims: “What was a shock for the club originally has now totally rocked bosses.”

The football player’s team is now in the first few weeks of preseason and is aware of the new allegations that were made public on Tuesday afternoon. From next month the new Premier League campaign is expected to kick-off and might kick off without this player.
