Piers Morgan, a British broadcaster has advised Arsenal to sign Nigerian star striker Victor Osimhen after securing a transfer move for West Ham United captain Declan Rice.

Arsenal are on the horizon of smashing their transfer record to secure the signing of Declan Rice for 105 million pounds from West Ham United. West Ham United reportedly rejected Arsenal’s two previous bids for Rice.

The Gunners’ third proposal including 100 million pounds in certain cash plus 5 million pounds in add-ons, looks to be sufficient to complete the deal though the clubs are still locked in conversation over the structure of the deal.

Arsenal diehard supporter Piers Morgan is delighted with the information but still believes that the Gunners still need to make a further big-name acquisition before they can whack Manchester City off their seat.

Piers Morgan has identified Nigerian hot cake striker Victor Osimhen as a potential signing for Arsenal if they want to go head-to-head with the current English Premier League winner next season.

On Thursday, 29th of June, 2023, Piers Morgan took to his Twitter page to advise the North London club. He tweeted: “It’s brilliant that Arsenal seems to have won the race to sign Declan Rice who will be a monstrously good addition to the team”.

He added: “But if we want to win big trophies, we also need a world-class striker who will score 25 (plus) goals a season. I’d break the bank for Victor Osimhen”.

Osimhen had a fantastic season for Napoli last year, guiding the team to the Serie A championship and earning the league’s Golden Boot award in the process.

After helping Napoli win the Scudetto for the first time in more than three decades, Osimhen has been heavily linked with a transfer away from the club this summer.

In 32 games played in Serie A last season, the 24-year-old racked up an astounding 26 goals and five assists.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has estimated the striker’s value at a whopping £150 million, meaning Arsenal may have to break their trade record for a second time this summer to get him.

Arsenal may find it difficult to make a move for Victor Osimhen after investing £65 million to get Kai Havertz from Chelsea to the Emirates Stadium and then agreeing a £105 million deal for Rice.

Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool, as well as Ligue 1 winners Paris Saint-Germain, are among the many European powerhouses that have been linked to the Nigerian red-hot striker.

After scoring an incredible 59 goals in 101 games since joining Napoli from Lille in the summer of 2020, the Italian champions are clearly not eager to let their top player depart.

Meanwhile, Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia and Ajax defender Jurrien Timber have both been linked to the Gunners’ move.

The demoted Saints reportedly have Lavia rated at £50 million, and clubs like Mikel Arteta’s side, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United are all interested in acquiring his services.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have upped their offer to £41.5 million for Timber and are very close to reaching an agreement on personal terms with the Dutch winger.

    What’s next for Arsenal?

The North London club led by head coach Mikel Arteta, needs to bolster their team next season after missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City and settling for second place in the standings.

However, Mikel Arteta’s men will be back in training in a few weeks as they will be preparing for the pre-season tour before the 2023/2024 English Premier League kick-off.

In addition, Arsenal will open their new season campaign when they’ll hope Nottingham Forest in Emirates Stadium on the 12th of August, 2023.
