Paul Pogba took to Instagram to give a tribute to his late father Fassou Antoine Pogba in a post he captioned “Padre! Allah y rahmo 🤲❤️” which translates to “Father! may Allah have mercy on him.”

Paul Pogba was seen in the picture with his two kids, backing the camera, standing near the grave.

When did the father of Paul Pogba die?

Paul Pogba’s father died in 2017 after suffering from a long-term illness that was not disclosed to the public.

He was survived by his wife Yeo Pogba and also his three Sons – Florentin and Mathias Pogba who are twins and Paul Pogba.

All of Paul Pogba’s brothers are footballers, but they are not as popular as the French midfielder.

Mathias Pogba plays for Championnat National 2 side Belfort as a striker, while Florentin Pogba currently plays for Indian Super League side ATK Mohun Bagan.

Paul Pogba’s star shone the brightest amongst his brothers as he joined Manchester United’s academy from Le Havre in 2009.

Pogba was eventually promoted to the senior team in 2011 and he was beginning to look like the favorite of the then-Red Devils boss Alex Ferguson, but the 30-year-old didn’t renew his contract.

The former Juventus man then moved on to join Juventus on a free transfer in the summer of 2012, where he would go on to make 184 appearances, scoring 34 goals and providing 41 assists.

Paul Pogba was an important player for Juventus in his four years at the club, winning four Scudettos and also three Italian Super Cups, with two Italian Cups.

    Pogba’s first stint in Italy

During his time in Turin, they also got to the final of the UEFA Champions League where they lost 3-1 against Barcelona.

Pogba then caught the eyes of the then-Man United gaffer Jose Mourinho, and he rejoined United back in the summer of 2016 for a then-world record of €105 Million plus bonuses of €5 Million.

Paul Pogba was just 23 when he rejoined United but unfortunately, he never lived up to his full potential.

The France international was beginning to have things go his way but gradually his output dropped, and injuries also didn’t let him attain great heights at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United academy graduate made 226 appearances for the club, scoring 39 goals and providing 50 assists.

Pogba boasts of special moments with the national team of France, one of which includes leading them on to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he was outstanding throughout the tournament.

Following the expiration of his contract at Manchester United, Paul Pogba returned to Juventus in 2022.

However, that in hindsight looked like the beginning of the end of a career that could have been quaking.

Pogba’s first season back in Italy was marred with injuries, as he played 161 minutes in total.

Paul Pogba banned from football due to Doping

On September 11, 2023, Pogba was suspended momentarily from playing due to a suspected drug test failure, as non-endogenous testosterone metabolites were found in his test results after a match against Udinese on August 20, 2023.

He was eventually slammed with a ban from football for four years by the Italian anti-doping National Tribunal.

Anyway, Paul Pogba has the option to appeal the judgment at the Court of Arbitration for Sports.

The ban puts a halt on all he would possibly still love to achieve, with the footballer aged 31 and still having the ability to perform at the highest level.

If his appeal is not successful, that might be an end to a career that could have turned out more swashbuckling if things had aligned rightfully.
