Paris Saint Germain have confirmed the reinstatement of Kylian Mbappe into the first-team squad of the club.
Mbappe and PSG have been involved in a transfer brouhaha, with both parties being at opposite ends.
Following the expiration of the 2022/23 season, Kylian Mbappe bluntly expressed to the Parisians that he wants to exit the club.
However, Paris Saint Germain didn’t accede to his requests as they demanded that he activates a one-year contract extension in his current deal which ends in June 2024.
The France international has maintained his stance that he won’t sign a new deal, although he would play for the club in the 2023/24 season.
Paris Saint Germain statement on the reintegration of Kylian Mbappe
In a statement shared by Paris Saint Germain, they revealed their decision to reintegrate Mbappe into the first-team squad.
PSG wrote: “Following very constructive, positive talks between PSG and Kylian Mbappé before the game vs Lorient, the player has been reinstated into first team training squad this morning.”
Paris Saint Germain president Nasser Al-Khalaifi had initially handed an ultimatum to Kylian Mbappe in July, and it entailed a direct decision to be made by their all-time top scorer.
Paris Saint Germain served an ultimatum to Kylian Mbappe that he signs a new deal or face the possibility of being sold this summer.
However, both decisions are yet to be made amid several offers that have reportedly come in for the Frenchman.
Mbappe hasn’t activated his contract extension nor penned a new deal with PSG, despite a reported mind-boggling offer being tabled by the club.
Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal reportedly tabled a staggering bid for Kylian Mbappe, but the Frenchman instantly turned down their offer.
Paris Saint Germain also proposed a contract offer of €1 billion to the former Monaco attacker, for him to sign a 10-year deal with the club.
Mbappe reportedly wants to join Real Madrid
In like manner, Kylian Mbappe also rejected the contract proposal, as reports claim that his mind is fixated on moving to Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are reportedly unwilling to table a bid within the range of PSG’s valuation for the 24-year-old, as they feel they can get him for free next summer.
Mbappe wasn’t in the squad for the Parisians’ opening league game against Lorient, which ended 0-0 and his absence was duly missed.
Reports also indicate that Luis Enrique was considering quitting Paris Saint Germain, due to the lingering battle between Kylian Mbappe and the Ligue 1 champions.
Some reports claimed that new-signing Ousmane Dembele was joining PSG as a replacement for the France international.
However, it seems the Parisians have back-tracked on their stance and they have welcomed Mbappe back into their fold.
The Frenchman has scored 212 goals and provided 98 assists, in 260 appearances for Paris Saint Germain.
Kylian Mbappe permanently signed for PSG from AS Monaco on July 1, 2018, for a fee of €180 million.
