Neymar has reminded the fans of Paris Saint Germain that he still has three seasons on his contract with the club and he has decided to stay until the end of the contract. The 30-year-old Brazilian winger had to make this reminder due to the boos he has been subjected to since Real Madrid knocked PSG out of the UEFA Champions League campaign this season.

Recall that PSG faced Real Madrid in the round of 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League campaign. Ahead of the tie, PSG were favorites to go through due to how star-studded the club is.

Fortunately, they beat Real Madrid 1-0 at Parc des Princes in the first leg of the round. In the second leg of the round at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, PSG scored the opening goal but Real Madrid ended up beating PSG 3-1 to knock out the French side 3-2 on aggregate.

Since then, the fans of the club have been very unhappy with the club’s players, especially Neymar and Lionel Messi who they believed did not do enough to help PSG conquer Real Madrid.

PSG fans confirmed how angry they are towards Neymar and Messi on March 13, 2022, when they decided to boo the two players ahead of a league match against Bordeaux which ended 3-0 in favor of PSG.

When the world thought the fans have moved on, on Saturday, April 23, 2022, the fans booed the entire PSG squad when the players were making their way to the pitch for the second half of the league match against Lens which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Before the final whistle of the match that confirmed PSG as champions of the French Ligue 1 for the 2021-2022 season, most PSG fans vacated the stadium in protest of the players’ performance in the game and the Champions League campaign.

In a post-match interview with ESPN Argentina, Neymar urged the fans to stop booing and was quick to add that if they don’t stop booing, they would need “more air” as he is determined to remain at the club until his contract expires on June 30, 2025.

The Brazilian winger said: “I still have a contract with Paris Saint-Germain. I’m here for three more years, so stop [booing] or you’ll need more air.”

Also, the coach of PSG, Mauricio Pochettino was concerned about the continuous booing from the club’s fans. The coach who has never won a league title except for the one he helped PSG to win this season urged the fans to show some respect for the French Ligue 1 title.

The Argentine tactician said: “We are going through a difficult period with the fans and we hope it will get better. We’re in a democracy and we accept all protests. But we have to show respect for this title.”
