Newcastle United had a rough 2019-2020 season. As the club was struggling on the pitch, so was the club’s owner Mike Ashley who was struggling to get a new owner for the club. At the end of the season, they didn’t succeed in getting a new owner and they didn’t make it beyond the 13th spot on the league table.
Before the 2019-2020 season ended, the manager of Newcastle United Steve Bruce, and his boys have already lost 16 league matches. They however managed to win 11 league games and drew the remaining 11.
As Mike Ashley is still fighting for the administrative soul of Newcastle into the 2020-2021 Premier League season so is Steve Bruce expected to inspire Newcastle players to go all the way and do the unthinkable this season.
In the first couple of games this season, Bruce has been using his boys to prove that he can take the club to a greater height if he has all the required resources. Newcastle won their opening Premier League match 2-0 against West Ham United on September 12.
After that, Newcastle scaled through the second round of the EFL Cup by defeating Championship side Blackburn Rovers 1-0. However, Bruce did not have the right answers for the sharp attack of Brighton as they were forced to lose 0-3 in the league on September 20 at St. James’ Park, their home turf.
Bruce used the subsequent EFL Cup match against Championship side Morecambe on September 23 to regain confidence after the club’s home loss to Brighton. They defeated Morecambe 0-7 to scale through to the next stage of the competition.
On September 27, Bruce and his boys faced their biggest threat so far this season when they visited Tottenham for their third Premier League match of the season. The match ended 1-1.
