The former Tottenham boss and Champions League finalist slammed the Parisians, referring to them as ‘the most ungrateful club.’

Mauricio Pochettino was shown the exit door in July after Paris Saint-Germain crashed out of the Champions League with a shock defeat to Real Madrid.

Mauricio Pochettino’s sack was inevitable after Real Madrid were able to overturn a 2-goal deficit at Santiago Bernabeu against PSG.

The Los Blancos went to France to pull a stunning result, defeating PSG 3-0 with Karim Benzema scoring a hat-trick.

The former Tottenham and Espanyol manager led PSG for eighteen months and won a French Cup and Ligue 1 title, but was pecked down the ranking after the UEFA Champions League deadlock.

PSG appointed former Nice manager Christophe Galtier as replacement to take charge of the team for the 2022-23 season.

Reacting to his sack months after, Mauricio Pochettino had reiterated how he was undervalued while at PSG.

Speaking to Radio Marca, Pochettino said his work at Paris Saint-Germain was underestimated and undermined.

According to him, when PSG win games during his stay at the club, the management will attribute it to individual talent, but when they lost, they will blame it on his incompetency.

“Everyone underestimates the work of the coach. When we won, it was due to individual talent, and if we lost, it was the coach’s fault”, He said.

The 50-year-old’s side included a plethora of world-class talents including Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria.

He went on to discuss the difficulties he faced juggling the egos and talents brought together in Paris.

Mauricio Pochettino admitted struggling to cope with a created team model which consisted of top personalities and talents brought in from different teams.

He argued that such model was only suggested in Paris and needed time to materialize, given the diversity of the players.

‘The model needed time. Players who came from the Copa América, from the Euros, injuries, a new city, culture… we found ourselves with nine or 10 players who were captains of their teams’, he noted.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time Mauricio Pochettino has complained of melting together all the top stars and talents that PSG had at their disposal.

He said big players are a blessing to teams, but when a manager had to deal with many of them in a particular team it becomes a problem.

PSG boast of top and highly-rated players with Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, and Kylian Mbappe forming a dangerous attacking trio.

Neymar and Messi are top players, who joined PSG from Barcelona and had already made name in the Spanish league before joining the French Ligue 1.

Kylian Mabppe established his dominance in the French Ligue 1 after joining the team from AS Monaco.

Mauricio Pochettino said managing the egos of the three top stars was a big challenge.

After his sack, the Argentine-born manager has not taken up a new role. He has been rumored to succeed Gareth Southgate as the new England manager after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
