Mason Greenwood is a 20-year-old England international who played as a forward for Manchester United with the no.11 shirt. Greenwood joined Manchester United’s senior team in 2018 and has made 83 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals. After growing his football career through Manchester United Academy, Greenwood made his debut for Manchester United in July 2018 when he traveled with the team for a preseason friendly with Club America. The Red Devils drew the match as he came from the bench as a 77th-minute substitute.
The youngster also featured for the Red Devils in his first competitive debut in a shocking 3-1 win over PSG on Match 6, 2019. He was used as an 87th-minute substitute.
Before making his Premier League debut in a 2-0 win over Arsenal, Greenwood scored his first Manchester United goal in the UEFA Europa League clash against Astana at the age of 17. He became the youngest player to feature in Europe’s second-tier club competition after Norman Whiteside and the youngest in Champions League.
Greenwood’s absence from the Manchester United squad began when the Police arrested him for alleged assault, rape, and issuing death threats. Photos and videos of the alleged assault and death threats, which were later deleted, prompted his arrest.
Manchester United immediately suspended Greenwood from the squad until he is cleared of the scandal. Greenwood has also lost his sponsorship deals with Nike.
After a court hearing of the case, Greenwood was granted bail. The Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that no further updates of Greenwood’s situation will be released until charges are brought against him, or he is released, facing no other action.
