Manchester United fans are reliving memories of Mason Greenwood as Manchester United battles with Ajax for a €100m Antony deal.

Man United Fans Want Mason Greenwood Back

It is not the best of moments for Manchester United and the fans. After glimmers of hope in the preseason, Man United suddenly slumped deeper down the depths of failure as the team struggled in their first two Premier League start. A formless and tardy midfield coupled with shambolic and rickety defense line has wordened Man United problems.

Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, and Christian Eriksen are new Manchester United additions, but the club still needs more signings to arrest the rot in the team.

Ajax’s Antony is on the radar, and the club has earmarked €100m for the deal. Man United hopes to convince a reluctant Ajax to part ways with the Brazil sensation with the over-bloated offer. Ajax has rejected two bids for the player. Frenkie de Jong has dismissed the possibility of joining the Old Trafford club to reunite with his former manager.

Man United’s woes and the struggle to land top signings have reawakened the image of Mason Greenwood and his contributions to Manchester United. Fans of the Red Devils have taken to social media to decry the impact of Greenwood’s absence from the team.

A fan with the handle, @laseg6 wrote, “another day to remind utd fans that if Greenwood were here, things would have been better.”

Another fan, @Abdulkh07190097 asked, “can we get Greenwood back?”

@FabrizioRomanii toe the same line asking that Greenwood should come back and save the club, “Mason Greenwood my star boy please come back and save this ass team,” he wrote.

Manchester United has been a shadow of itself after two openings Premier League matches. The Red Devils have lost back-to-back against Brighton and Nottingham Forest. The tragedy at Old Trafford as it unravels is a story of villains and heroes. While the Glazers and captain Harry Macguire are being called out, Mason Greenwood has been hailed because of his performance and contributions to the squad when he played for the club.

Mason Greenwood is a 20-year-old England international who played as a forward for Manchester United with the no.11 shirt. Greenwood joined Manchester United’s senior team in 2018 and has made 83 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals. After growing his football career through Manchester United Academy, Greenwood made his debut for Manchester United in July 2018 when he traveled with the team for a preseason friendly with Club America. The Red Devils drew the match as he came from the bench as a 77th-minute substitute.

The youngster also featured for the Red Devils in his first competitive debut in a shocking 3-1 win over PSG on Match 6, 2019. He was used as an 87th-minute substitute.

Before making his Premier League debut in a 2-0 win over Arsenal, Greenwood scored his first Manchester United goal in the UEFA Europa League clash against Astana at the age of 17. He became the youngest player to feature in Europe’s second-tier club competition after Norman Whiteside and the youngest in Champions League.

Greenwood’s absence from the Manchester United squad began when the Police arrested him for alleged assault, rape, and issuing death threats. Photos and videos of the alleged assault and death threats, which were later deleted, prompted his arrest.

Manchester United immediately suspended Greenwood from the squad until he is cleared of the scandal. Greenwood has also lost his sponsorship deals with Nike.

After a court hearing of the case, Greenwood was granted bail. The Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that no further updates of Greenwood’s situation will be released until charges are brought against him, or he is released, facing no other action.
