    The club statement have debunked rumors on the club’s position on Mason Greenwood while confirming a decision will be made soon.

    The major prompts from the press statement are that the club have concluded the internal investigation into Greenwood’s rape scandal and have gotten enough evidence from those who were directly involved in the incident.

    “We also have responsibilities to Mason as an employee, as a young person who has been with the club since the age of seven, and as a new father with a partner.

    “The fact-finding phase of our investigation is now complete, and we are in the final stages of making a decision on Mason’s future.

    “Contrary to media speculation, that decision has not yet been made and is currently the subject of intensive internal deliberation. Responsibility ultimately rests with the Chief Executive Officer.

    “Once made, the decision will be communicated and explained to the club’s internal and external stakeholders.

    “This has been a difficult case for everyone associated with Manchester United, and we understand the strong opinions it has provoked based on the partial evidence in the public domain.     Mason Greenwood was suspended from Manchester United squad following his arrest in January 2022.

    He was charged for attempted rape, sexual assault and coercive behavior on his girlfriend and lover Harriet Robson.

    The 21-year-old battled for his innocence under the clutches of British prosecutors. However, all charges against him were dropped earlier this year but Manchester United have refused to reinstate him to the squad.

    The club have insisted on conducting their internal investigation into the rape saga before taking a decision on his future at the club.

    After months of isolation from the squad following his rape charges, Manchester United were poised to take a decision on Mason Greenwood as they continue with their 2023/24 campaign.

    Before his arrest and suspension from Manchester United, Mason Greenwood made 129 appearances for the club, scoring 35 goals with 12 assists in all competitions.
