Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho has expressed happiness in sharing a pitch with the club’s younger players and wants to help guide them.

The Englishman who is Manchester United’s top summer transfer target might not be leaving Signal Iduna Park this summer. This is following what Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc said on Monday. Zorc maintained that the 20-year-old winger will stay at the German club next season.

Sancho, who scored 17 Bundesliga goals lat season said he is enjoying his time with the young players.

Jadon Sancho shines in preseason friendly

He started a pre-season game in Switzerland on Wednesday alongside Jude Bellingham and Gio Reyna, who are both 17.

They whitewashed SCR Altach 6-0 and the Reyna opened the score chart after slotting the ball past the goalkeeper from Erling Haaland’s assist.

Sancho was later stopped from doubling Dortmund’s lead after taking out two defenders. He was again stopped some minutes later. Although he scored this time around from a curling shot but was ruled out for offside.

Haaland made it two from the penalty spot after being through on goal. The Norwegian scored his brace after tapping in from Jude Bellingham cross on the stroke of half time.

Thorgan Hazard came to the party after converting a penalty. The Belgian was also felled in the box by the substitute goalie and he converted the spot-kick brilliantly.

Emre Can who made his return to the club scored the fifth from a pullback pass from Sancho.

Julian Brandt sealed it up after being teed with a through ball from Haaland.

Speaking after the game, Sancho said the team has some special young players and he is excited to play with them.

“I love playing with this lot. It’s a special bunch. We’ve got some special young players coming up. I’m really happy to share the pitch with them and guide them.

“I joined when I was 17 – some of the lads are the same age. I’ve been there and done that. I can guide them in what’s good and what isn’t. I can hopefully motivate them as well.”

United irked by Sancho’s demand

In the transfer news, it was gathered that Manchester United is frustrated about Dortmund’s £100m valuation for the player. The Red Devils have also bulked at the salary and the agent’s fee, which they seemed too high given the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The club had set August 10 deadline for United which have elapsed and they have started pre-season.

Meanwhile, judging from his latest comments within the Dortmund camp, it shows that he is settled and there has been no evidence since they returned to training last week that he is agitating for a move.

Ahead of the UEFA Champions League draw on October 1, both clubs will be in pot two .

Since neither of them couldn’t be regarded as favourites for their domestic title in 2020-21, Sancho could also benefit from playing in front of fans first, given the push in Germany for crowds to return if he decides to stay.

There won’t be much media spotlight on him as it would be for any English youngster who scored 17 goals and contributed 16 assists in the Premier League, as he did in the Bundesliga last term.
