Raphael Varane is set to miss the rest of the season in a fresh blow to Manchester United campaign.

The Red Devils will now miss two key defenders on the sidelines after results of Raphael Varane’s iniury scan filtered in.

The Old Trafford club have already miss Lisandro Martinez on the sidelines for the rest of the season after the latter suffered a fracture to his metartasal bone in Manchester United’s Europa quarterfinal first leg clash against Sevilla.

Martinez was stretched off the pitch late in the second half. Scan on the injury shows the Argentina World Cup winner suffered a metartasal fracture.

He has undergone surgery and will be ruled out for the rest of the season as he undergoes rehabilitation.

Raphael Varane also suffered an inujry blow in the game against Sevilla and was subbed off in the second half.

However, reports emerged he will be out for ‘a few weeks’ due to the injury and will return to the squad before the end of the season unlike the condition of his pal, Martinez, who is set to miss the entire season.

The optimistic outlook on Raphael Varane’s injury received a big boost when it was learnt the initial swelling on his leg after the injury has gone down significantly.

Now, after scans on the injury has been conducted, the Mirror reports Raphael Varane is now set to miss the rest of the season.

The scan shows that he will be ruled out of action for six weeks with just few games remaining to the end of the season.

This implies Manchester United will now miss another defender for the rest of the season in a double injury blow to the club’s defense line.

Manchester United will play their final game for the season on May 28. Raphael Varane’s six weeks injury timeline means he will be sidelined until June 4, when the club must have wrapped up the season and brace up for the 2023/24 campaign.

Raphael Varane’s injury situation was confirmed before Manchester United FA Cup semifinals clash against Brighton.

The double injury blow blast open the weaknesses of Erik Ten Hag’s mini-revival at Old Trafford.

The immediate impact was felt as the club were forced to concede two own goals against Sevilla due to reckless defensive blunders after Varane and Martinez were off.

At the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium, same defensive blunders cost the club a place in Europa League semifinal and dented their triple-chasing season.

Against Brighton, De Gea had to pull fire saves as Brighton ripped apart Manchester United’s defense in search of a winning goal.

Obviously, Raphael Varane injury blow may likely twist Manchester United Premier League fortunes.

The Red Devils will now have to wage war for a place in the top-four and the FA Cup trophy without the former France international, including Lisandro Martinez.

Erik Ten Hag has described the double injury blow as a mess and has opted for a rather strange defensive pairing featuring Harry Maguire and Lindelof at the back.

Meanwhile, there are reports of growing optimism in Manchester United camp that Raphael Varane may likely beat the odds and return at least a day earlier than the June 4 deadline to feature in Manchester Vs Manchester City FA Cup Final on June 3.
