Players of Manchester United women team do not want Mason Greenwood to return to the club after the saga he was embroiled in.
Manchester United female players are reportedly against any show of the 21-year-old in the Manchester based club in spite of the cases against him being put to bed.
According to strong reports from the Athletic, “The feeling is strong” amongst the team that Greenwood should be let go.
They made a pointer towards an audio clip that was released on social media in January, 2022 which was alleged to be an audio recorded of Mason Greenwood coercing a woman.
This has obviously not gone down well with some players imagining the possibility of seeing Greenwood in a Manchester United Jersey.
And as such, infuriated female fans of Manchester United have demanded that the contractual agreements between Greenwood and Manchester United be cancelled.
Manchester United’s male players’ stand on the matter
The sentiment is also echoed by some of his teammates in the Manchester United changing room who don’t love the prospect of seeing him once again in the club’s jersey.
Mason Greenwood is suspended by Manchester United, and many are awaiting the result of the internal findings and probe currently conducted by the club.
All charges against the Englishman were dropped earlier this month ranging from charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control and behavior.
This came in light of the withdrawal of many witness who came to testify against the forward including his ex-girlfriend.
What clubs looking to sign Greenwood could face
Many sources have stated that clubs looking to sign the Englishman would have to prepare for the financial burden, that it would cause the club, due to the seeming reaction that would come from fans and also sponsors.
David Alexander who is the managing director of Calacus PR, told an online media company that: “It’s impossible to put a figure on the impact of United choosing to retain Greenwood, if that is what they end up deciding to do.
“But with corporate partnerships being significant, the financial impact could easily run into millions.”
He ended his statement by saying that the Englishman may have to go far away and out of Europe to a nation where the rights of women are not as “advanced” to resurrect his career.
This is coming in line with the reports that Mason Greenwood could be heading to China which could see his wages drop as a result of the Chinese Super League salary cap that has been placed on foreign players.
Mason Greenwood has also felt impediment on his finances as top Sportswear brand, Nike alongside EA Sports removed him from the video game console, FIFA 22 and subsequent editions of the video game.
Everyone would have to sit back, and watch to see how this lingering saga hovering around Mason Greenwood ends.
