Manchester City will miss their first-choice goalkeeper Ederson in the title-deciding Premier League clash against West Ham United.

The Premier League dominos are two points ahead of challengers Arsenal, who will take on Everton on the final matchday.

Arsenal had thought North London neighbors Tottenham would do them a favor in the title race by forcing City to drop points in the penultimate but it ended on a disappointing note. Erling Haaland rose to the bidding, scoring twice in the second half to hand City a deserved victory.

Ederson was the hero of the night for the Cityzens. Before Haaland consolidated the victory with a late spot-kick goal, Ederson made s heroic save while the score was one-nil to keep City’s title hopes in order.

South Korea international and Tottenham Hotspur skipper Son Heung-Min was through on goal, coming one-on-one with Ederson.

A tipped effort would have seen Son reverse the tide and turnaround the title race but Ederson was agile enough to stop him with a stunning save to keep City in the lead.

Haaland would later score from the spot and bag his brace but Ederson took the plaudits for saving City’s bid for a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

However, it was not a thoroughly decent night for Ederson. He was later forced off the game with an eye socket injury after he collided with Tottenham defender Cristian Romero.

Stefan Ortega came on in his place as he had to be subbed after he could not continue following medical attention.

Now, Manchester City club statement has confirmed he has been ruled out of the test of the season.

This means Ederson will miss City’s final Premier League match against West Ham on Sunday. He will also miss the FA Cup final against Manchester United on May 23.

Despite the setbacks, he will hope to recover early and link up early with Brazil’s squad for 2024 Copa America which kicks off on June 20, 2024.

Brazil head coach Dorivial Junior included the prolific stopper among his three goalkeeper options for the South America continental showpiece alongside his Liverpool counterpart Alisson Becker.
