Manchester City lost their last league game of the season to Brentford days after lifting the Premier League title.
Unfortunately for Brentford, the victory was not enough to qualify them for the Europa Conference League after Aston Villa defeated Brighton.
Ethan Pinnock scored the only goal of the match between Brentford and City, but it was not enough to move them away from the 9th position.
It was a goal Brentford deserved after dominating the game against Manchester City Team B.
It was Manchester City’s second loss this year since losing to Tottenham on February 5, 2023. It was the fifth match Manchester City have lost this season.
The Pep Guardiola side left Kevin De Bruyne at home and Erling Haaland on the bench. Manchester City’s Cole Palmer had three chances in the space of five seconds, but he could not convert them.

Brentford started brightly, but they weren’t clinical enough to score. A few minutes later, The Citizens forced Brentford goalkeeper David Raya into a save.

Brentford’s first attempt on goal came in the 37th minute when Pinnock had a long throw in the Manchester City 18-yard box. Ederson was quick to tip the ball in the right direction to stop Brentford from going ahead.
Despite the chances created in the first half by Brentford, Manchester City were the team in possession, with quicker passing of the ball.
However, Brentford have been well disciplined at the back and attacked Manchester City with every possible chance.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank was furious about the referee’s decision, and he received a yellow card after the Bees third penalty appeal was denied.
A few minutes to the end of the 90th minute, Brentford looked like the team ready to win the match with the hope of qualifying for the Europa League.
The breakthrough came in the 85th minute of the match for Brentford. Brentford’s Pinnock lashed the ball into the back of Manchester City’s net after Mbeumo headed the ball into the defender’s path.

The Bees will travel to play Boreham Wood on July 12, 2023. It is going to be the team’s first preseason game ahead of next season.
Manchester City, on the other hand, travels to Wembley for the first FA Cup Manchester Derby final on June 3, 2023, at 3:00 p.m.
