Reports indicate that Manchester City wanted to sign the German midfielder in the summer of 2023 but Toni Kroos decided to sign a new contract with Madrid and stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The former Germany international has in the past expressed his desire to end his career at Real Madrid.

Now he faces a seemingly alluring offer of joining Premier League giants and Champions League holders, Manchester City.

The German midfielder is known for his vision, intricate passing, creativity in the middle of the park, crossing and also set-piece ability.

He plays mainly as a central midfielder, but has also been deployed as a deep-lying playmaker in his career.

His consistency and brilliance over the past years has made him almost unplayable in his role, a total of 716 club appearances so far, hitting the back of the net 73 times and making 158 assists.

With a lot of titles under his belt, Kroos boasts of an incredibly illustrious career, winning almost every possible trophy right from his days in Bavaria in the German Bundesliga with Bayern Munich and also a stint in Bayer Leverkusen then to Real Madrid in the Spanish La Liga.

Toni Kroos won the Bundesliga title three times, including his final and Pep’s first season in Bayern Munich.

He also won Five Champions League titles, six FIFA Club World cup titles, three La Liga titles among many others.

What Kroos could offer to Manchester City?

Kroos coming into the Manchester City set up brings more stability into Pep’s midfield and can also serve as a back up for Rodrigo Hernández.

His ability to play different positions in midfield makes him just the perfect fit for Guardiola who loves making use of players’ versatility. He could play the box-to-box role, or even play as a short term sub for Kevin de Bruyne who seems to be nearing the twilight of his career.

Toni Kroos has also represented Germany, making 106 appearances for the Die Mannschaft, scoring 17 goals and providing 19 assists across all competitions.

Kroos was part of the 2014 victorious German squad that won the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
